When QBs are cheaper than strips?

You only need 2 strips to match the diode count/output of the QB. If you're like me you have lots of random scraps of aluminum around to slap together a frame but even at 1.5a you wont need much of a "heatsink" Youre not wrong that strips make less sense for such a tiny little project. They...

    Eye Hortilux DE/LED hybrid system

Actually a good buddy of mine owns a couple vinyl-only record stores...they're doing great and he's definitely not poor but only because nerds like to collect old shit. Also, I wouldn't worry too much about boxer bro he's just burnt that he bought CREE @$40 and can't seem to get over it...

Rider's first foray into LED strip lighting - Samsung H Series GEN3

The inverse square law only applies with a single point-source. The further down you measure from the source, the less dense the photons become as they spread out. If you have hundreds or even thousands of emitters, they overlap each other in such a way that as you measure further and further...

    Bridgelux EB Series Build

I am a fan of the ND magnet method that @caretak3r employed in this thread.... https://www.rollitup.org/t/diy-quantum-or-nextlight-mini-alternative.933578/#post-13331390 I just taped mine to the heatsink with kapton and have been running fine for months

    Strips vs COBs

Strips are cheap enough (especially in quantity) that i wouldnt even bother rolling the dice on alibaba or ebay. The specs for samsung's strips are on their website, likewise for the bridgelux EB series. Last time I checked Nichias strips were on par with the others' efficiency but more...

    Strips vs COBs

The only reason to build with cobs over strips is if you are a spectrum junkie and you dont want to mess around with supplementing a 3000k strip build. Other than that strips are, watt for watt... cheaper, just as efficient if not moreso, easier to install, easier to manage heat, much lighter...

Starting to grow with LED’s could use advice PLEASE.

No. Many other, better choices for your dollar but expect to spend more than $100 for something that isnt going to be totally disappointing. Avoid amazon, take a look at a few threads in this section and ask more questions after you've done a little homework.

In the Valley LED Strip Build

Light looks great, that picture format is weird and makes it hard to see whats going on. Its a clean build and will likely perform as good or better than cobs....only one way to find out though! :weed:

Is this a good deal for a used cob setup?

I would buy that for $200 but for sure offer less I would not buy that for $800 Those heatsinks are massive (and expensive) and the drivers are $60/pc. The fact that you dont have to do shit but plug it in and you have a solid lamp makes it worth it imo. Also these are made by a forum member...

    F Series driver recommendation

Higher voltage (constant current) is more dangerous although I run all my strings of cobs on constant current drivers at ~280v and I'm still alive. Constant voltage technically leaves you open to thermal runaway if one of your strips has significantly higher voltage than the others. This...
