Cutter Electronics: Complete DIY COB kits

Ahh, wouldn't want any touching the heatsinks now would we, lol. Thank you so much, just what the doctor ordered. Guess a hundred feet will be enough for this project.

Cutter Electronics: Complete DIY COB kits

Okay, so it's a bitch with stranded wires, but does it work? Seriously short on a lot of things you guys take for granted, unfortunately. Edit: is it possible to cut some of the strands off heavier gauge wire to fit ideal holder? Noob q, I assume, but since the juice clearly can flow through...

Cutter Electronics: Complete DIY COB kits

No, I'm in the backwaters of Europe. Looking at eBay now, but it's like a month shipping... Edit: so far, the earliest delivery date is October 3-11. Do you guys know if there's a way to pay for quicker shipping on eBay? I'd be much obliged if anyone could look at this and say if it's what I...

Cutter Electronics: Complete DIY COB kits

Sheeit. So I've got a dozen cxb3590s with accessories itching their way here. Then, on Friday night I discover that anything less than 1.5mm2 is impossible to get in the land. It seems like I just hit the wall on this project. I'm stuffed.

Cutter Electronics: Complete DIY COB kits

Thank you. Now my problem seems to be that anything under 1.5mm2 is impossible to source here. If anyone knows a link for some 18awg/.75mm that ships everywhere, I'd be happy. Or rather, happier. With taxes I'm already $1300+ into this and I've yet to find alu for the build. Still positive, though.

Cutter Electronics: Complete DIY COB kits

Thanks, I guess lol. Jesus, now I have yet another language to learn, it seems... I'm lost. Again.

Cutter Electronics: Complete DIY COB kits

Given the 140mm pin heatsink, cob holder, adapter and Angelina reflector, how many and which screws do I need? I believe that the side mounting holes are M4, but I might be mistaken. Please, just got over the weekend to source. Edit: does anyone know what 18awg is called in Metricsland? A size...

Project New COB Veg Light, planning thread

Okay, so another lesson in how easy it is to screw up the little things. This time quite literally. First I ordered 50 M3.5 screws when I needed M4s. And now I just realized that it takes M3 6mm AND M3 10mm to attach the cobs and reflectors. I just got the 6mm. Good thing I caught it in time to...

First LED Grow - Germans not only like beer

@cherrycoke77 @Maito Gai Same thing happened to me, snailing it's way through my backwards country, and just missing the weekend deadline. I considered going actively cooled, but it's a lot more moving parts and the capital cost gets higher. Everything needs power supplies, etc. Passive seems...

Cheap and Cheerful DIY using Citizen cobs

Should I understand from this that the pf/w for the 1212 is @24"? 17wX2.5 =42.5, so half the distance equals 4x the light, so 170ish? 12" is about a foot, if my Euro brain is on board. So one foot distance between cob and canopy and one foot between cobs. Sounds like a recipe for some even...

Project New COB Veg Light, planning thread

Been advised on 12" distance, appr. 175 umol each @500 mA. How does this distance compute vs spread? At 6", following the inverse square law, it should be about 700each. If that is correct I foresee really poor spread. 11 1212s would deliver 7700umol, but I don't think this is correct at all...

Cheap and Cheerful DIY using Citizen cobs

@everyone I've just read through this entire thread, it's been really educational, if sometimes a little confusing. I'm particularly interested in the 1212 as a veg light, even though I'm getting more open to the other cobs from citizen as flower lights too. Does the 1212 come in 6500K? Haven't...

Project New COB Veg Light, planning thread

10 sounds so much more symmetrical than 11 at first. But 11 is actually kinda perfect. It would fit a 200w driver @500 mA (187w) and could give great coverage in a 4-3-4 bar combination. 470 umol, DLI over thirty. Of course, granting 1 m2 area. 3x4 would be 435 umol. Great size for some...

Project New COB Veg Light, planning thread

Midway through the cheap and cheerful thread I'm wondering how much the higher Vf on the citizens will amount to in increased number of drivers. Still not confident about the optimal light temps for a purely veg light. Best plants I ever grew spent three months in 16oz cups, two of those in...

Project New COB Veg Light, planning thread

Lol @ the rush for quotes. That sounds great, but I'm not in the UK so it's an open question if they'll ship to me. Definitely sending them a mail when I feel confident in my understanding. This is awesome information and this thread is developing into my project evolution log, and I'm learning...

Never been one to foliar spraying, what with bare bulb hps and all. What kind of lenses are cost effective though?

Project New COB Veg Light, planning thread

I'm trying to pin down the point of diminishing returns on ppfd in veg. I'm planning to start keeping mother plants, and control over light intensity would help with keeping the number of mothers down. Theoretically.

Probably bare, Angelina type at most... The 1212 @500 mA is around 20-25w dissipated, I assume?

Just found @CobKits 28 page thread, seems there is interest at least. What kind of distance from lights do you envision with them@500 mA?
