Back when I used to garden I would put a few layers of newspaper at the bottom of the pot to prevent soil from coming out the drain holes. What would you guys recommend? I'm sure newspaper is good enough I just want to do my first grow perfect.

Which endof the fan do I stick the muffler? Do I attach it to the side that is pulling the air ojt of the tent or the side thats blowing out all the air?

Thanks! I took the cotton sleeve out of the baggie and looked at it. Should I have gotten some kind of straps or something to secure it to the filter? The "sock" is a little bit elastic so it might not need it.

I just got my carbon filter in the mail. I pull it out of the box and I have the large body of the filter and a bag with what I guess is the fluffy cotton looking carbon material. What do I do now? Does it wrap aroundthe outside? How? Thanks for helping a new guy get his tent together.

Thanks a bunch... I had read somewhere that it was good to use the MH in the beginning but also a ton of people on here saying no just use HPS. What you guys said makes sense and I'm going to try it.

I plan on starting some autos for my first grow (I want some good bud for my wedding anniversary in April.) I have a 400watt MH/HPS cool tube and a 32'x32'x64' grow tent. Would it be ok to use a metal halide for germination until the second or third week?
