A Tale of The Tape HPA vs 21st Century Flood and Drain

Hi PF, Thanks for putting your recent efforts 'down on paper'. Always good to see others try to push the envelope a bit. Only problem with implementing systems of increasing complexity is that they have a greater chance for something to go wrong also. If you can get them to work however, they...

Apollo Series LED panels from Cidly

You can't patent particular wavelengths in a board, folks. That's just marketing BS. No attorney worth his salt would touch it with a 3m pole. I welcome the first idiot drop-shipper that tries to make such a 'patent infringement' stick - on a Shenzhen OEM, or the buyer. Gotcha; no worries...

LST & FIM Training under Blackstar Chrome Series LED

Hi PD, Glad to see that chrome series apparently working out for you. What's your feeling on the coverage of your unit? This is one of the double-lens ('X2-lens') units, correct? From this picture: My initial sense is that, since there appears to be a marked, visible difference...

Apollo Series LED panels from Cidly

Hey Mike...what does that mean? Will he be cutting the price to you in exchange for running a journal here? How much is the discount? Well...you may still be crazy sf, :bigjoint: but your plan might indeed work out fairly well. One caveat: Did they send you the spec sheets for the 2700k...

    Area 51 - SolarFlare

More watts does not necessarily mean better, or more light. It could mean lower-quality emitters driven harder to compensate for a lack of efficiency, too. Though personally, I'd prefer it if CLW used more '3w' emitters driven at nominal levels, than fewer '5w' ones driven at an average of 4w...

Im offically a LED grower. Spectra Im here.

Sorry to hear about your troubles with these lights, S. Haven't looked at the latest versions, but for one of their earlier models, my initial assessment was that they contained entirely too much high-energy blue light as a % of the total, which required significant distances from the plants to...

    show us the nugs!

If you'll notice, that's a thinly veiled affiliate site. Most of the reviews linking to the lights he's trying to steer you towards will insert a hidden cookie via a php redirect which gives him credit for the sale when you buy a particular light. In other words, he's doing it for the money...

    New project! Led PC-growcase!

Hi Nick, Always glad to see more DIYers out there. 8) What is the make/model/part # of the driver(s) you are using? Are they dimmable? VDC or PWM? What are the exact interior dimensions of the case? (lwh) Unless those pics are deceptive - and it's in fact as big as a large filing cabinet...

    "Home made" LED grow lights...

Hi Major. Do you regularly test the pH of either your soil or your runoff? If not, might be a good idea to do so. No, the roots are merely the vessels, they feed the entire plant. Still better to have a healthy root mass throughout though, of course. Problems that tend to show on older...

    would these work for diy?

...you've made 129 posts here since joining on March 16th? Welcome. 8) Nope. Those are crap. ---- They (i.e. SMD 3528's, mounted on a strip like that) max out at ~1.5w/linear foot. They're only rated at an IF=20mA, and 50mA MAX. Don't even think about driving these much past 20mA...

    "Home made" LED grow lights...

Early pH issues + overwatering = no good. http://www.greenmanspage.com/guides/plant_abuse.html I'd wait until they dry out a bit, then flush 'em again for good measure, cut back on the foliar feeding for at least a week and see how they do, and use RO water from here on out. Tap's way too...

Thinking of using an LED rather than those HPS

You might want to start instead by reading every LED grow you find, both here and elsewhere, and making a decision accordingly. No. Those suck worse than a hooker with Tourette's Syndrome. :o Yep. Save yer money - and only buy quality, my son. ;-)

Apollo Series LED panels from Cidly

Thanks for the info, guys. Appreciated the recent spec sheets, too (FWIW). 8-) I can see why they're pulling more watts than you'd think. A good CREE/LUXEON blue/white will require ~3.2-3.4V @ 700 mA; the reds, ~2.3V. So you're driving more watts at the same mA than with top-tier LEDs -...

LST & FIM Training under Blackstar Chrome Series LED

Hi PD. Thanks for doing this grow! Always fond of Blueberry myself. :blsmoke: Yes, it looks like both Led-Star and Luyizhi have their own version of the 'black star': http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/534615068/135w_Led_Black_Star_Led_Grow.html...

Need Some Help/Opinions on Spectrums for My New Panel. Anyone?

Hi FJ. :blsmoke: Never heard of a gov't that doesn't want all of your money. ;) Sure mate. Just off the top of my head: Yes, go ahead and ditch the 380's; strictly speaking you don't need 'em. Use Reptisuns on a timer if you want to play around with UV. Get rid of the IRs and add a few...

Sour 60 Autoflower under Hydro Grow 21X-PRO

Hey B, nice write-up. Cool that you can journal their least-expensive light and get a discount on their larger ones. :blsmoke: Footprint of the light on their site shows about a 12" circle at 12" from the ground. Would you say that's about accurate, larger, or smaller than projected? Thanks...

    hps vs T5

Yes, and...blackthumb has already stated that heat will probably be an issue in his locale. BT, you do realize the fluorescent fixture you referenced won't fit into that tent horizontally, don't you? A 2' x 2' tent that's 4' tall isn't a lot of room to grow in. The HTG 220w here...

PLS - PLASMA LIGHITNG SYSTEM! Long forgotten or Much Improved? The future is here!

$1200+ for an out-of-the-box, plug-in-ready to grow (i.e. non-kitted), 600w HPS equivalent with a smaller footprint where you have to send in the actual unit to replace the 'bulb' when it dims? Sign me up! -TL

Hey, kids. :) I see some familiar faces on here! Boy, some of us do get around, don't we? Gee, that's funny... ...the exact same thing happened to ME! :bigjoint: And yet, you still try to post here. That's hilarious. Yep. Every board seems to have its own character (and demographic)...
