I don't think it matters much as long as you don't have them wet sitting in the dark. So if you do it a little before the lights come on, that's fine, but don't do it just before they go out.

Here she is a week later. I went and got a cheap magnifying glass to inspect. From what I can tell, all the trichs are either clear or cloudy, 0 amber. So I think I have some time left - I plan on harvesting as soon as I see the first amber trichs form. Here is her ugly sister Maggie.

Well, as we can see in the picture below, the one I left outside on cold nights has turned much darker...almost a purple. I'm actually leaving all of them outside right now, even at night, because it's staying warmer than I thought.

Yeah she is quite small, only about 10" high. Started flowering much earlier than I would have liked...plus her top was cut after flowering, making it even shorter.
