Use the Hortilux HPS. Has the highest umol. 1600umol.
Fluence SPYDR 2i
The SPYDR 2i is a high-performance top-lighting solution for commercial cannabis growers who want to push the envelope with high-PPFD cultivation practices and experimental applications or treatments.
PPF: 1700 µmol/s
Efficacy: 2.7 µmol/J
Input Power: 630W

I wasnt referring to LED. Hortilux HPS has the highest umol of any single ended HID.

Spyder 2i is a great light.

The Phillips Toplight Compact is 630w, and 1800umol, but they wont sell less than 40 of them for $32,000. $800 each is a killer price though.

They're expensive, but the 360W/hr savings can really add up and the light penetration at 6-8" over the canopy is awesome.

That’s about $10/m here on electric cost difference. At $800 a light vs $150 for a 1k de with bulb(not hortilux, but ime changing every round is better than buying expensive bulbs and trying to run three). Means a lot of time to make up for the initial cost imo. Also, the fixtures put out less light. Someone needs to make an led fixture that can compete with a 1k de hps AND is price competitive. In bigger rooms I feeL like the goal is to be most productive, not most efficient as they arent one in the same. I want a 1k led fixture to replace my de hps fixtures because I would rather yield more than save money on electricity.

It would only take you 6.6 years to recoup the money saved on electricity by paying the $800. :bigjoint:

That LED is $800 more than a 1000 watt HPS kit that comes with a sealed hood and dimmable digital ballast and won't produce any better. If heat is an issue I guess some people would need it.

I say 1000 watt HPS all day everyday.

Though I replace my Hortilux bulbs every 1700 hours. Theyre &70usd HID loses 10% within 30 days/720 hours at 24 hours veg cycle, which is what I use.
I replace every 70 days on 12 hours flowering.

The better LED will keep 90% of its umol for 50,000 hours.

Allegedly the HLG is 1700 umol and 610w. Hortilux 1000w HPS is 1600umol.
My Gavita 1700e is rated at 1700umol, and 645w.

Id go for the 1000w Hortilux HPS over the Mars if you can cool it. The Hortilux will totally blast a 2 x 4. Really is best for a 4 x 4. At 2 x 4 that 125w Sq/foot. Thats about what the sun is at noon at the equator on a clear day.

Probably have to keep the light up a bit from the canopy. Id probably go 24 inches at least.

Ok thank you I guess I’m going to have to learn how to train to fill up that 4x4 so I do t waist any light..... I have a 8” 750cfm fan so I’d be able to cool it it’s also in a cold ass basement so that helps too.... I have 4 white widow auto flowers from ilgm set up on an auto drip system right now so I hope that gives me at least 2zips a plant or the 1000wat would be a waste

1000w Hortilux is made for a 4 x 4. 62.5w Sq/ft

Good LED, with Samsung/Osram diodes are 40w Sq/ft

The Mars I believe dont use Samsung Diodes.

How’s the hortilux compared to the agro?
Are you talking about this bulb?

The Philips Agro 3100k is a 315w CMH bulb that requires an entirely different hood and ballast......And a 315w is not enough for a 4x4. If we are talking single ended 1000w HPS, hortilux is the best.

Why dont they sell an 800w hps version/model or add it to the dimmable 1000w ballasts because sometimes a 1000w is just a touch too much but a 600w not quite enough. The hps could use even increments of 150/200w and start really competing again.
