1000w vs. 600w hps

So it's been a huge debate between my partners and I, but I wanted to get some outside info here. 600w lights are great in that you can have 3 for every 2 1000w lights and still be saving money. My roommates think we get almost same yeild and quality, but just from the 2 1000w lights ive used i'm pretty much convinced that, although you maybe dont quite double your yeild, you produce triple a meds and much much more dense buds, with almmost an extra o per girl. Any input from the mass?

well id like to hope ur wrong since im runnin 2 600s, theres a guy on you tube that did that test, although the 1000 was used 2-3 times the 600 produced the tighter buds

well if your talkin 1000 watt vs 600 obviously 1000 watter will be better 600's have there uses like most run 2 600's i look at a 600 watt bulb and go holy crap what a small bulb lol compared to a 1000 bulb

people say you get more coverage it all depends on your set up for instance right now i run 1 1000 watter on a 8 foot motorized track thus giving me 8 x 6 = 48sq feet with bulb being approx 8 " above tops giving plants massive amount of lumens

what I hear from the guys with big setups that have ran both, is they would rather run 10 600w's over 6 1000w's, you get more coverage with more bulbs and they run cooler so the lights can be closer,

now 10 1000w's vs 10 600w's, take the 1000w

around here lots run on big diesel generators so overall draw becomes an issue

The big setup guy say that cause they have been down the road of waisted $ if your trying to light up 20+ plants with x2
1000s your better off getting x4 600 for that. But if your thinking less than 20 x2 1000s will do nicly. In my opion 600
Rule the larger scale ops

my thought is that 2 600s are better than 1 1000 more coverage.... :blsmoke:
Better? NO way. Different usage, but not better usage. Yes, you can cover more area with 2 600s, but the trade off is the loss of penetration. A 600 is more efficient in terms of watt to lumen ratio, but you just can't beat a 1K to brute force it's way down thru the canopy. There are many scenarios where 1 or 2 600s would be a better suit to the circumstances than would a 1K, but never a more efficient solution. All things considered give me the 1K lights every time. I'll MAKE 'em work if I have to.
I worked my way up the wattage chain like everyone else, and I just think that everyone who advocates multiple lower wattage bulbs has never used or grown with the 1Ks. Once you walk into a room lit up with the 1Ks, your whole mind set changes. I have never in my growing career said to my self, "Damn I wish I had 2 600's instead of that 1K". Nope! I just try to figure out how to effectively add another 1K. (Or 10!!!)
