Thx bro for your hell and opinion I really appreciate all the help cus I'm learning everyday with this system but I feel you by waiting that long for full strength but back when I gave her 1/3 strength she was still hungry. I waited till the next week to give her full strength and she was fine but it's this week when I gave her the XL treatment things went uglyI thought I knew what the problem was and I was right with the pH swings. I do think full strength maybe a lil too much but she's there and been there so she will just ride it out. I'm not really tripping too hard cus she's still growing but the Silica is causing the pH to swing almost a full point so it will be cut back but really appreciate the help tho bro
No worries dude I love to help if I can. If your nutes are causing serious swings you may want to mix your whole soup together thoroughly, and then let it sit for like 20-30mins before PHing it. After you PH it let it sit another 15 or so before checking the PH again to make sure it didn't change- even the newly PH'd water will have fluctuations lol!! It's easiest to make your batch in a separate bucket so you can make it perfect then just pour it in to the dwc![]()
It really is just one nute that's really causing the pH swing and Im gonna cut back on it. Was reading the levels of phosphorous and I know that's what causing it to swing because there's too much of it. There's enough of it in my base and B1 Boost and using it Silica with those two makes more phosphorous than nitrogen. Its just way too strong too use at full strength but I always mix my nutes thoroughly. This my 1st round of hydro but I've grown for years so I know how to mix nutes but I'm not doing DWC its a recirculating hempy setup so I fill res then mix nutes. Also I've come to the conclusion that my air pump is strong and I have to turn it down after mixing up the nutes well because when I do turn it on low the pH doesn't swing super crazy maybe just a couple points so I have to remember to turn it down after flush and mixing new nutes.
Just wanna update everyone with her status. She's ok she's still growing but slowly. She's a fighterso when she makes it past this minor hiccup she will be strong and lovely. I did a really good fim job cus she's got plenty branches coming out where she was fimmed. I think she may have not recovered from the fim all the way when I hit her with the XL and with the pH swings it has locked out the phosphorous which sucks cus I have sooo much of it in my res with the Silica
but I'm going to cut it back to quarter strength this next nute change which will be soon cus she's in need of fresh nutes and Dr Repair. If the pH still swings like crazy with that small amout of Silica then I wont use it at all and I'm gonna up the Dr Repair a lil more. Will have some pix for you guys later
Good call mate, im sure she'll fight back once the silica is reduced. Mines gone completely nuts this time with the lower silica![]()
Word if there's one thing that the vets on this forum seem to lean towards it's N ratios 90% of the time. 3-1-2, 3-1-1, 3-2-2 and so on. I'm going to have to research hempys. I was going to stay ignorant as I'm content with soil or hydro but they seem to be all the craze so I'll probably at least learn something cool!
Thx I forgot I had a garden saver book that has pix of all diseases and pH problems and everything very good book. Helps you figure out problem immediately. I'm just glad that the phosphorous deficiency didn't take complete hold of her. She's already fighting back brobut wow I believe it I know it helps buffer the pH some but maybe a way too low a out will have it out of whack too. Iono but this Silica is driving me nuts lol
You mos def got that right bro. Im glad your here for the ride and I also cant wait to see how this turns out
You are right about one plant being inefficient use of space but Im not trying to fit enough plants in there to use up the space. Once the plant grows and gets big her canopy will stretch across the light coverage and use up most of the space and light. Plus with the system I have there's no way I could fit that amount of plants maybe two at the most. I have an 8" fan exhausting the heat from the light through ducting attached to the door. The fan works really well because the temps are between 75-80 with lights on 67-75 with lights off. Im gonna add another fan to the door to bring in fresh air soon once she gets much bigger but glad your following along because this is my first time with hydro so Im curious too lolI think you will be surprised in the end how well this one plant will do in this space with the 1000w hps.
Lolthe Last Samurai lol!!! she's really loving the perlite her roots are stretching for the nutrient water like crazy. She should take off in the next few days
Set it and forget it is what it's all about! A watched pot never boils, and a dialed in plant left alone flourishes, these are facts.
Since I last posted I've done hours of reading on hempys and I'm honestly blown away lol. I'm proud to acknowledge the timeless- 'only if I knew then what I know now', once again haha! Do you think that they beat a dwc system, with everything else being held constant?
Nice man, its always good to know what pH locks out what nutes and causes the problems hey![]()
I also meant to ask what your feed schedule is? I had mine on 4hrly but changes to 3hrly and she rocketed lol.
adding fresh air at all times will help her as well..good luck on your grow mate..she will definitely be a monster..![]()
Hey guess what man! I decided to go out and buy myself a rubbermaid container and some net pots and what notyou and a few other have made me wanna do a run with hydroponics! I'm gonna do a DWC just waiting on my Barney's farm LSD seeds first

Hey man, quick question, are you begging under the 1000w? She should be much much bigger than that if she is, even with the lockout...or maybe it just looks small in the pics, i dunno, she just looks really small to me but still looks healthy...
good call on the silica, I've gone back to 1/5 of full strength and my pH is nearly spot on after minor adjustment...are you feeding every 3 hrs?
