HTG 150 light setup $69.75 Plus shipping and handling $ 17.31 total 87.06. Its definitely a good setup

But

Look at this http://cgi.ebay.com/150-WATT-HIGH-PRESSURE-SODIUM-FLOODLIGHT-WITH-LAMP_W0QQitemZ150331025549QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item150331025549&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1728|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50

49.90 plus 9:00 total 58.90

And you don't have to worry about where to put the ballast.

Just thought I would bring that to your attention

the 150 from htg supply is good.I got one and yeilded 3 oz off 1 plant in a waterfarm with only 1 month veg.The plant was as big as my homebox s.I upgraded now to the 400 watt system they have and use the 150 to veg/clone and flower plants that i cant fit in the homebox.,

After all my research if you can... go directly to the 400 watter. Not much diff. in price and use venting if heat is an issue. Do your research and look up threads and journals of people who have 400 watters in small spaces. Yield appears to be worth the upgrade....GL

i have my 400hps from htg in a 2ft by 5ft space and one side is fabric and no fires yet, even without the fan going. just get the 400 instead of the 150. i even have enough light to grow strawberries too

yeah if you got the space and bucks to dish out then get it.You can get away with a 400 in a small spot but i rather put it in a spot thats just right.Thats just me.

You will definitely end up having to use a cool tube no matter what type of HID light you go with. I found this out the hard way with my 250 that was generating so much heat that my res temps raised and I ended up with root rot that killed my plants while I was to sick to tend them

I would recommend going strait to the 400 as well, because you can build it into most any grow situation where you could put a 150 or a 250 with same ventilation but better yields. I realized the 250 was perfect for keeping mothers alive and vegging clones, and that the 400 would just require the same set up as my 250 so it was a common sense swap to increase my yield by the most for the cheapest.

Check out the prices in the link above. If that doesn't make you think that you might as well go with a 400 I don't know what will.

400w MH ballast for $55.49
or the 250w MH ballast for $55.49

Duh.

still a noob whats a cool tube? and i have very limited space to work with right now, this would be just for a few lowryders probably. electricity is a factor and heat is what im really worried about in such a small space. its only like 2x2 if that. gonna try to get my caregivers licence when i can in this state, which will be very soon. but until then i dont have much room to work with and my grow box would not be able to handle the heat of an hps.

its a tube that the light goes in that ventilation flows through so that it immediately carries heat away

Go with the 400 instead of the 150, if you run the 150 for awhile you will wish you got the 400. The 150 HPS is not really good for young plants, they do much better under t5's at that wattage.

I plan on adding a sun systems 400 to my setup, and I found one for roughly $150. Anyone know of any cheaper prices for the same quality?

thats def not true at all.. I had a 600w MH/HPS in a 2x4 closet box w/out a cooltube and temps stayed under 82f... All you need is good ventillation and airflow..

cool tubes are def not a must.. good air flow and ventilation can do just as well as a cool tube..

yeah its not much of a difference in price
maybe not up front , but the cost to run diff is substantial . 250 more KW per .. More than double is a pretty big diff imho..

I say just get a HOT5.. No need for fancy cooling/venting/cooltubes etc that means even more money.

good luck
