For 16 lights you'll need 32 k of cooling alone probably closer to 5 tons once dehumidifiers, fans and everything else are added. For that space depending on plant count I'd put an Aden 320v1 in for dehumidifier a 100lbs co2 bottle with reg and trolmaster to control everything. Goal for the room would depend on genetics but I shoot for a minimum of 3/4# a plant.

I would do 18 1000 watts or 18 of the scorpions. Both put out the same light just one uses less wattage. Thus less of a cooling load. You get a better spectrum with led and better yield and quality. I shit canned my 32 gavitas a few years ago. Never again. I'd honestly tell you make sure you run 220v for everything minus fans and controllers. For reference here one of my rooms in the new building I'm doing now. In that 416 sqft space I'm putting 14 fohse ai3's in there. They're 1500 watts each giving me.right at 50 watts a sqft. Bigger room then yours but these ai3's are monsters and really pull 1500+ watts. They throw down 4200 umoles as well which insane.
If I remember correctly those went 63 days maybe an extra week but was pretty much done. And those was more of the middle not main tops. All those was strains I made
You would do 18 lights in a 16x16 room? Lol I have to re-evaluate my budget if that’s the case and I was leaning to cmh or led for the reason you stated which is the heat of the room
I don't screw with bulbs you have to change them every 2 grows. That alone is reason enough to go led. Less consumables overall lower operating costs.yes I would of the scorpions or any true 600-650 watt light.

Most de 1000 watt bulbs are 100 to 120 each added to that you should be changing them every two grows so in my case every 2-3 months. For the amount of lights I run 14 per room atm becomes costly. Even in a home setting were talking alot depending on what you grow. Now as soon as you fire that bulb up and it burns in after a few days to a month depending on brand the umols they put out decrease quickly. Where as leds don't well past the 10yr mark. Yes I have some that are close to that age and still grow well and numbers are right there. As for heating I mean honestly you're going to have to heat or cool something. If they're decent leds they'll still consume 600ish watts and will put off that much heat at the very least. Plus you can run leds warmer so less cooling load to deal with.
True I look at several factors even at home. My biggest is the bulbs loosing their punch as quickly as they do. Michigan was the same no one really had ac except for myself lol it didn't get warm enough most of the time then it wascokd as hell and snowing.
Buy 9 of these fir $7700. There are less expensive options that I would consider that I am running and having phenomenal results but they are quantum board style and not quite as good with even lighting unless you buy smaller units, which I did. But my rooms smaller. Not everyone wants sleep weed. All strains are different. I have a super fast sour d/sensi star cross that has to be pulled before it starts getting many amber trichs.
