Hi everyone, its my first time posting here. But it looked like its the best place to ask. So after looking for leds to save on my electricity bills I bought x2 mars pro ii 160(384 true watt) lights what was very disappointing tbh. I almost lost my fate in LED, but found out COBs and Stripe Boards so decided to try Quantum Boards, but their heatsinks were out of stocks all the time so I ordered alibaba 288 board kits.
I am a total noob in diy leds, but watched some of vids (mostly about COBs).
Boards :
Power 52-130w
Voltage 48v
Current 1-2.7a
170-180 l /w
So I got my kit this week assembled it (without a Potentiometer for now)
Everything looks great at first point. Only thing after 40mins on heatsink becomes too hot to keep hand on it so I don't want to use it before Pot comes. Difference from QB is that there are 18 vertical stripes vs 8 horizontal, have no idea if its bad or not
But my main concern is parallel wiring, I'm worried that driver output is 5A what is almost the double of stated current, and in case if one board goes off what going to happen to remaining one? So the question is if it is safe to run it like that or I have to use some resistors or change driver so keep them safe?
And one more question if mounting driver on heatsink technically good decision? Or will it make my heatsink hotter and its better to keep it away?
