Great idea man. My plant now is about 2 1/2 weeks old so it's early for me to worry bout the odors, but that's exactly what I'll do when the time comes.

thanks...

Hey quick Q about the carbon scrubbers

I know this is a vague Q but how long to they last before the carbon needs to be replaced?

I bet also since there is not as much room in that thing for carbon that it will run out sooner because so much smell is being sent through. I prefer longer ones more room for carbon more room for air.

Looks cool tho.

Ok so here it is.

Get 1 x cotton air filter. You can get these really cheap from car modiying shop or e bay. Cheap and nasty works fine cos we are only trying to keep carbon in and not stop microscopic particles of dust out of an engine.

Get a bag of activated carbon. Got mine from a pet shop.

Turn filter upside down.

Open bag of carbon cutting only one end of net bag and pour into the filter, tapping the filter as you go along to make sure it is filled properly. Fill up to neck. Some people like to crush carbon but this works for me and if it ain"t broke.............

Get a piece of pvc pipe or a bend as i have.

Place net bag over one end. (preferably the end that fits into the filter.

Insert into filter and tighten the jubilee clip on the filter.

That is it. Works gret on small grow boxes. Just clamp it to your exhaust.
What do I do If I don't have an exhaust, where do i mount it then???

I'm using two portable fans to substitute air circulation...
you would still need an intake and exhaust hole to keep fresh air coming in and stale air going out - otherwise you're just blowing around stale air with your two fans.

So you can put the carbon scrubber on the exhaust hole - but without a fan blowing out, the air pressure alone may not be enough to cause the air to exit through the hole.
