Ok, guys, more information about this raw humate. I can't expect anymore help than you guys have already given, but maybe in helping me understand the situation, others will gain some knowledge of this important ingredient in Sub's recipe. I contacted the owner of the company I bought the raw humate from (off EBAY), and this is what he said - "you purchased a raw Humate ore mined in west Texas from an ancient (65 million year old) deposit. The actual humic acid content is 59%. However, this is in its pure form. It has not been altered with chemicals to make it immediately soluble, so you are not blasting the soil with a humic extract containing chemicals. It is not really an acid, but rather life-giving molecules stabilized in a clay base. There is no way it will make your soil toxic. If your total mix was at least 10%, that is good. I use it in as much as 20-30% by weight with great results"......so it sounds to me that this Humic Ore is different than the Humic Acid that the recipe calls for...what do you guys think? Did I get lucky here?
