Yo Farmer! Glad ur girls are still doing good! Nice green color! My jack is just about done, click the link in my signature, about 2 more weeks, and chop! Man, wish I could grow outdoors! Plants look so much better!

Looking good man, keep up the good work!!! I'm just a bit south of you in NE, I'll get out there today and post a few of my dancing children.

THe kandy kush had really grown since last visit, and is now flowering pretty well and already building resin on the leaves. I cleaned out some lower growth on the plants today and got 12 clones off of the qrazy train, 2 off the kandy kush, and 9 off of the jack Herer. Somethings been eating a few lower branches on the JH and KK, looks like a small deer. I found some of the bitten off branches on the ground though, so i don't know if its been eating them or just nibbling them off. whatever the case is i hope it doesn't happen again. wateredtoday with plain water besides 3tsp of cal mag/ 2.5 gal and 1.5 tsp of tiger bloom/ 2.5 gal. ***The plants aren't actually as yellow as they may appear in the photos

This hurricane business is sounding pretty shitty.i'm just gonna stake the hell out of them, put up some prayers, and let them ride it out. Jack Herer, help me out on this one. :leaf:

well i figured i would go topdress and see what i could do to hurricane proof my ladies. Due to very limited ties to stake my plants up with, i only staked my Jack. The other two don't look to be as susceptible to breaking in the high winds, but the heaviness of each of the three main shoots made me want to atleast stake that one. I just cut my own stakes out of some smaller trees and staked the branches individually. My scheduled weekly feeding is on fridays, but with the upcoming 8 inches of rain we're supposed to get plus the rain tonight, i doubt if i'll get the chance before wed. The guano should atleast give them some nutrients with all the rain. The KK is flowering hard already and building resin on the leaves. It has a really nice sweet smell already. The QT and Jack are slowly starting to flower as well. The Jack is about 7' and the kandy is atleast 6'5". I have faith my ladies can handle Irene. Atleast its gonna be 60 MPH winds compared to NC and the lower eastern seaboard. I wish all of you getting hit by Irene good luck, and to your ladies, God Speed. :peace:
Pics: #1=KK, #2=QT, #3= QT leaf problem any ideas? minor yellowing and leaf drop towards the bottom of the plants and in the middle here and there. not nitrogen def. , #4+5= QT, #6= KK, #7= JH left/ kk right

Rock on Farmer! Love it when things get to frosting up. Looks like they are starting to downplay Irene (thanks to the MJ gods!) but looks
like the rain will still be crazy. Looks like your stems are thick enough to hold your girl's up!

Well i went out yesterday after the storm came through ( not much of a storm here), and everything was fine except for my KK which had blown over, but staked her back up and shes all good. Some Mother F*$&#ng animal keeps eating some lower fan leaves on my KK and some on the JH, and it took a whole branch off the KK. Today i went out to feed and the top of my LSD that was budding and building up resin has been bitten right off, but it was right there on the ground. The same thing with the branch that got chewed off the KK, the deer didn't even have the decency to eat it. I'm gonna put up some fishing line around my grow tomorrow so hopefully that will keep it, or them away. I pissed all over the place around my plants today, and rubbed my sweat on some leaves of surrounding plants and my plants, so hopefully that will work for tonight and maybe tomorrow. Everything else looks good and the JH and Qrazy train are starting to shoot pistils out everywhere, so thats good. The KK is budding hard probably 2 weeks ahead of the others, and starting to frost up nicely. smells very nice, a really sweet smell. split a gallon jug of Tiger bloom and big bloom with my buddy, so that should hold me over for a lil bit. Used my new oldschool Gerry hiking pack to carry water out today and it fit 3 gallon jugs easily inside, so the JH and KK are getting the 2.5 gal jugs and the QT is getting 3 gals. fed with tigerbloom, cal-mag and big bloom today. tiger @ 3tsp/gal and big bloom @4tsp/gal. pics are from yesterday. tried to get some buds shots, but my shitty cell camera couldn't focus right, so i just gave up.

Hey Farmer, things are looking great! you've got some nice looking ladies there! Bushy and tall, what a combo...

I think we're pretty close together location wise. I'm glad we both made it through Irene nicely. I actually had my ladies in pots so i lugged them about a mile and put them in the shed to ride out the storm. Ever try carrying a 5' MJ tree through thick underbrush gently...not recommended. But it was worth it.

Just wondering when you put your in the ground and when you're planning on harvesting? I'm kinda new to this and wanna get a locals take on the best time to put em in and chop em down.

+ rep playa!

Right....not fun! I'm on the same timeline then. I'm not sure I'm as optimistic about Oct 20, but that would be awesome!
I was thinking my ladies were a little behind in flowering, 2-3 weeks now but it seems like that's kinda where every is at around here...

i was retarded worried my plants were flowering so late to man, kinda pissed it took so long cause of the first frost around here. but you gotta take what you can get right....
As for the oct 20th frost it is a bit optomistic i know but i did check weather.com and accu weather for there 30day forecast and neither of them show us getting below 40 untill oct like 16th or something, they both showed us getting a slight warm spell through sept......... dunno bout all that jazz but i can be optomistic. I WANT HUGE BUDZ! HAHAHAHA

Thanks Danks! yeah shes wasn't that bad, lucked out big time. I know whatcha mean man, carrying them around aint easy, but definitely worth it if you can. I started mine may 1st and due to lighting restrictions atm, had to keep them at around a foot/1.5' tall so they wouldn't get too lanky. fimmed early at the 4th node to slow their height down and make them bush more ( really like how they came out, probably will fim top again next year, but maybe pich again after in late june so they really bush out). Last year i had to harvest around sept. 27th or 29th or something like that. I am really hoping i can get them to go til OCT 10th. Thats what i'd ideally aim for, but i'll let them go as long as i can as long as it isn't gonna frost hard, or for more than just a couple hours at night. We were getting frosts last year by mid september, but i put them through a few light ones and a couple of heavier ones. I'm praying for a warmer, dry fall, but we know how it gets up here late sept. Mine probably wouldn't be fully mature til mid to late OCT, but you gotta take what u can get. really sucks having a shorter season up here, but i'm trying to find some shorter flowering strains that start budding earlier than most. Medijuana is one that would be ideal, but pretty hard to get ahold of (let me know if u know where to get some clones or seeds if possible). Last year at the end with the wet and cold weather bud rot was setting in quick, and even though alot of my plants had a ways to go, i would've lost more than i would've gained by leaving them out there, so i just had to take em. Once it starts getting colder, it really slows thier growth and budding to a crawl. Probably towards the end of the month, if the weather outlook isn't looking too good, i'm gonna try to get some green house plastic, and rig up canopy or tent thing with open ends, just so i can keep the rain off them and give them a better shot at getting deeper into Oct. I figure i'd lightly camo the outside with some green paint and ferns and shit to keep it from being seen from above. chopper action usually is at the peak mid sept, then it slows down towards the end.(knock on wood)

Good stuff Farmer. It's a pleasure talking to someone who understands the weather we have. I've asked a few times around the forum, but most people just blow it off, but they don't live where we do, do they ;). Since mine are in pots and i have a large shed, I may bring them closer to the house as Sept winds down. I'm thinking if i can put them in the shed at night it will keep them dry and keep the frost at bay. Not sure though...thoughts? I'm just praying that it stays dry, I'm thinking my ladies will be looking at that mid Oct time frame as well. But like you said sometimes you just have to take what you can get. In your experience how does harvesting the bud a few weeks early effect the final product smoke wise?

I'll ask around a bit for the Medijuana for ya. What's the attraction? Shorter flowering time? IfI come up with anything I'll holla at you.:joint::weed:

Hey guys just a lil update im here wedged between york and cumberland county, i was checking the farmers almanac, i know not the best tool but usually pretty accurate and we arent supposed to get first frost in portland maine untill oct 10th this year and not a heavy frost, sub 28 untill oct 18th i think. so mid oct harvest look feasable this year to me i am planning to harvest between the 7th and the 14th, thatll give me 7-8 weeks flower time. hope this is some help to fellow mainers!!!!!!

DanksME, there are several strains you should consider for outdoor growing here in maine, off the top of my head theres Aurora indica that starts flowering by begining of august so makes for a perfect full 8 week harvest allmost every year in new england. Theres also a maine native strain M.O.B, one of my personal favorite smokes. ive been told it has just a 45-50 day flowering time making it bud around aug 15th and be done by oct 1st. Ive heard of some others that would benefit you and us in new england well this summer caus eive been asking the same question????????
Another thought for outdoor harvests in maine ive been having is using autoflowering plants, start em june 1st and they will be done by end of augustish, cant clone them or grow from clones is the only down fall, but just order a mixed pack of male females and leave a male next to a female and never buy seeds again is what i was thinking of doing, you can get severa autoflowering strains that have high potency and yiel in the 250-400ish gram per plant range. and you would be able to grow sativa heavy strains outdoors in maine this way as well... just some of my thoughts to add to the party.....

@ Futurama, and what great ideas they are. I'm pumped that the Almanac is on our side:joint: Let's pray for a warm dry beginning to Fall and we can all celebrate come mid Nov:weed:

As for the strains, I hear ya. I would love to grow some high shizz, but i'm super reluctant to order seeds online. It just sketches me out, but now that I've almost got my first grow under my belt, it's only a matter of time ;)

It's strangley addictive going from consumer to producer!
