2020 MASSACHUSETTS outdoor grow Thread!

You don't have anything on hand that'll finish in under 9wks? Its not the best way to gauge what will do well outside but its a start.
Check out the outdoor grow section for your area. There's plenty of journals and threads from New England growers that'll get you pointed in the right direction.

I don't think you'll find many Sats that'll finish properly. Finding a good hybrid should be easy enough though.

It’s really hard to find a sativa that will finish that early and still be good quality (serious 6 is your best bet). You’re looking at mid-Oct to end of Oct for most sativa. If that is your route though the chances you find it, get it shipped, germinated, hardened off, and planted by July 4th is very slim and the quantity won’t be the greatest. Since this is your first outdoor grow, you’re better off starting a few of the strains you have on hand as soon as possible (like today). Yourll most likely come out with a good sized crop and even though they may not be best suited for the environment you should use this as a learning experience to learn all the variables New England growing throws at you. Then go into next season well prepared and killed that grow. Growing outside is playing the long game (most of the peeps on here have been growing outdoors 10+ years), be patient and your grow will pay you back huge with more weed then yourll be able to handle (outdoor harvesting is a lot more laborious than indoor). Thanks for all the kind words of encouragement. I have some clones I can start hardening off in a week or two. LA Amnesia it is. I just worry about humidity and mold. Wanted something resistant to pests also. I can see success with this strain tho. I’ll keep u guys updated. You guys would shit yourself if you saw all the land I have to work with.

The outdoor girls so far. The first auto is full on flowering now. Damn slugs are getting to some of the lower buds though.

Also, trying out this crazy milk crate grow idea I saw somewhere.

You can say that again. I only grew a handful outside last yr and it took me over a wk to get them all down. And they were small in comparison to the monster trees @doublejj and @ganga gurl420 grow

Crazy rain yesterday. Woke up today and found this on one of my plants. Only one plant affected and plant seems healthy otherwise. Never experienced this before, stem rot maybe? Anyone have a remedy for this? Wanna take care of it quickly and early

Yikes..Never had that happen to me, But try containing and removing as many of the spores as possible, then putting a direct fan on there for a bit.. Possibly pull your mulch/straw layer away for a few days. I happen to notice a new 3-4 inch mushroom growing about 1 foot away from one of my random outdoor plants... Rains were heavy but much needed for me, saved me a watering and cleaned all that pollen that fell past week.

I still need to check on my plants after that rain we got yesterday. We had a massive downpour at my place for awhile. I know my wife's flower pot on the front deck looked like someone sat on it after the rain so I'm hoping the plants out back didn't get too damaged. This is one of the reasons I get anxiety when I grow outside

I started with 4 plants from seed April 12th, 2 lemon auto which have about 1 month left before harvest and 2 critical purple kush that I put into flower about 2 weeks ago. I also took a bunch of clones from the cpk that I have been giving away to neighbors and playing around with. I had some large sheets of plexi glass I put up against the railings of the deck which really helps with the wind that gets bad at times here.






CPK on left was topped twice, the one on the right was topped once. Topping a second time really made the plant bush out.

Curious, How long did you wait to give the cpk on the left the second topping?

Not long at all, probably 7-10 days after the first topping, I waited just long enough to be able to take more clones of them. When I topped them the first time they really took off quickly.

Could try Potassium bicarbonate or spray/paint it with copper fungicide

ALSO,
May I humbly suggest adding a thicker, drier mulch in addition to that straw: I personally use cedar mulch and it’s cheap from the Depot.
