Couldn’t properly regulate the garden soil moisture in the Balkhi Repro 4 gallon plastic pots - I used garden soil and it is way too dense for proper drainage in pots that size. Then the soil got too warm once summer kicked in and I started seeing lower leaf die-off. Three looked like shit yesterday so I said fuck it, in the ground you go!
Last year I was able to use the same soil in 2 gallon fabric grow bags, so I figured I’d up my game with bigger pots - but didn’t consider no side aeration with plastic pots plus increased diameter would make it so hard to deal with. Live and learn!
The soil was bone dry down four inches when I dug the new holes, we are definitely in a drought - thankfully for these plants, as the last thing they need is heavy rain until they dry out…
