Moby Dick got the chop this morning, day 75 including 72 hours of dark. That finishes off my first ever hydro grow, I'd call it a success! This plant was the most robust I've grown yet and it was flowered around only 3 weeks from seed since it was a last minute addition to replace a failed seed. Very spicy smell, dense as all hell, and super sticky. If it flowered faster, I'd love to keep this strain in the garden (assuming the smoke is up to par).

that looks very chunky indeed !! super massive calyxs, that will be nice tasting smoke!!

well done completing your first hydro, just a heads up, she might take a little less time to flower if there is more leaves on the plant, and a bit bigger perhaps. I think you done great

Thanks for the compliment!

She was definitely the smallest plant I've flowered yet, and the first from seed so maturity level could definitely have contributed too. Those pictures were actually after chopping most of the fan leaves off though, she was a pretty leafy bitch and they were all bigger than my hand. I guess I should have said 'during' ;-)

BTW, nice work on your monster! Growin like a champ. I'd love to give the pure perlite a shot sometime, I've been steadily adding more every time. I'm just getting my soil dialed in though and I'm capitalizing on it by growing all soil this time, hopefully avoid the hassles I ran into with hydro and get a better yield, which is a necessity after paying for a room like this hahah. Plus no water temps to battle all summer long, without buying a chiller which isn't happening until I build an UC.

Beautiful bud there. Amazing structure and frost just gleans from it. :) If I was more of a fan of spicy smokes I'd have to give that a try.

So I put the cab to 12/12 yesterday, trained the plants completely flat, and gave them a good feeding, pure veg nutes this time around. I'll be taking some pictures right before lights come on tonight.

I also did a transplant today for most of the plants in the veg tent aside from fresh clones I took this and last week. 75% Happy Frog, 25% perlite, lime. Watered in with superthrive and hormex's B vitamin. I'm shooting to have these into 12/12 within 5 weeks so I can get my harvests properly staggered. I dont like having to do 2 in a row, then nothing for 8-10 weeks like happened this time.

Enjoy the pictures! bongsmilie

Alright, time for the weight and smoke reports: I'm a little high to be doing this properly, so bear with me. And that should be a good way to sum up these reports by the way :eyesmoke: These are my first, so let me know if I forget something.

Tahoe OG came in low as expected, just over 20 oz. Low considering 1600w was originally on 7 of these in the waterfarms, and their size(4'x3'), but it wasn't too bad considering I beat a pretty substantial case of root aphids mid-flower that took out a week of growth and cost me 1 plant, leaving me with 6 limp girls that took almost another week to get back to health, in what would have been an otherwise smooth grow.

The Tahoe girls were definitely more vigorous than my soil plants, but not as much as the DWC Moby Dick. This was my first run in the system, but I had a great growing experience all things considered. The strain itself was more like a vine than any other plant I've grown, and with such little bud on each shoot I was disappointed to still find the branches barely able/unable to support themselves at all. I highly recommend proper training methods for this strain. I LST'd to end up with bushes, but didn't trellis or cage them, so I ended up having to tie up almost every branch individually.

Smell: 5/10 nothing special, but a nice spicy/sweet smell not overly strong
Bag appeal: 7/10 nice color, crystals everywhere, but not dense enough to get a better rating
Taste: 7/10 Somewhat spicy, not lemony or fuely as often described. I like the taste but it's nothing that really stands out.
Potency/high: 8/10 Great high, strong head buzz almost floating feeling that makes it hard to want to go work in the garage or outside. Enough of a body stone to enjoy, but not stick to the couch. I prefer a more functioning high and I feel dumb after smoking this stuff, so I should grade this lower, but even not being my daily preference it's one of the best for what it is: an end-of-day bake session when NOTHING needs to happen(rare around here).

Moby Dick yielded 50g, just shy of 2oz. Awesome considering this seed was just germinating when my Tahoe clones were about 12" tall. It had a slow first 2 weeks in the DWC system because I was using horrible tap water, but as soon as that was taken care of this was easily the most vigorous plant I've grown, and I don't just attribute it to the DWC method. The secondary branches were thicker than pencils before she was 18" tall. A few FAT colas on this little girl and no problem supporting herself until the last couple weeks. This would probably be one of my favorite strains to have kept growing, and the one I'm saddest about not having clones of.

Smell: 7/10 Another spicy one, stronger though and honestly more unique to me than the Tahoe
Bag appeal: 7/10 Covered in crystals, beautiful green and orange, strawberry-shaped dense calyx-y(?) buds
Taste: 8/10 Half sweet, half spice and easy to take a massive hit
Potency: 8/10 Definitely one of my favorite highs, I can feel that Haze cerebral high and the WW gives enough of a rounded high to have everything in one

Platinum OG

Vanilla Kush - All 4 phenos seem pretty consistent so far looks/structure-wise, but they're all being bitchy about different things. One is showing a very slight calcium deficiency. Another looks like a bit of N burn, while the other 3 are just starting to yellow a little bit. Same feeding schedule. :???:

La Musa auto. First of many autos...More on that later
DSC02543.jpgDSC02546.jpgDSC02545.jpg

Transplanted most of the girls into their final pots today, ran out of soil so I'll be finishing tomorrow. Pictures are from before the transplant.

So I figured that since my veg tent is going to be running 600w all the time, and not need all of it for probably half of that time, I could put it to use growing autos. I was gonna wait to order a couple, but then I saw too many auto specials going on at once at the tude so I decided to pull the trigger. I've emailed both before and after placing orders and always been denied the opportunity to replace freebies with autos. So this was probably my only chance to get so many at once. Check it out.

3/3 with attitude so far, popped 4 of the seeds right away: Critical Sensi star freebie to be mothered(I'm already mothering my other one), G13 Pineapple Express auto, and El Alquimista and Dinafem's White Widow are going 12/12 from seed in the tent. I have a 2x2 gap that needs filling and theyre perfect for it.

DSC02587.jpgDSC02588.jpg

Couple days until I flip the tent to 12/12, I'm thinking Thursday or Friday. I put up the trellis a day or 2 ago, its a whole new animal to water the back plants, but I couldnt bear to think of so many different strains and no support in place. I'm gonna get a hose and wand so I can water with my sump pump straight out of my storage res.

I marked the stakes 10 days ago and as of today theres 4-8" of growth. So I should be flipping right about the time they're into the top trellis, that leaves me ~18" for the stretch under the 1k, ~24" for the sour cream under 600w. The seeds under the 1000 should stretch less, they all have about twice as many tops as the Sour Cream, and should be less sativa dominant, aside from OG13 and Sour Jack which both have tight node spacing. We'll see how it works out soon enough.

Where the thermometer is sitting in the first pic, is where Dinafem's WW and Samsara's El Alquimista(AKxNL) will be going. They're in the cab right now to germ under 12/12 until I flip the tent over.

Veg tent back up and running with 600w(need a MH bulb), 2mothers(NLxBB and Sensi), 4 NLxBB clones and 6 WWxBB seeds for the next scrog, 2 WW are about 3 weeks older than the others. La Musa lookin pretty good too, camera died or I'd have a close up of her. This will have to do

I'm getting anxious...So many great strains in one run. Still looking to flip lights end of this week. Growth is back where it should be after upping the nute strength, seeing about 1/2" per day with at least 10 main tops! Not bad for soil, though it still doesnt quite hold a candle to what I saw in dwc. Speaking of which, I'm excited to start up my new rdwc system too, should have it finished within a week or two.
