Radiant heat isn’t the same as air temperature, when we leave a sensor out in direct light the infra red from the light warms up the sensor to a higher temperature than the surrounding air temperature. I cover mine with a toilet roll tube lol. This used to be a much bigger problem when using hps that has a lot of infra red, not so much now I use leds but the difference between a shaded sensor and a sensor in direct light is still noticeable. I’m not saying that the radiant heat shouldn’t be monitored too but I usually do this with an infra red thermometer pointed at the leaves.
