400w indoor medical grow - round two

High everyone!

I've read tons of these threads on RIU and equally as many grow journals. I've been keeping my own log but I figured it's now time to put it out there and see what everyone thinks!

So here's what's in the cabinet.....

Two So Cal Master kush clones, two master Jack clones, a purple extreme clone, q blackberry clone, and a cannalope haze clone. All in a modest mist of supersoil and earthgrow on the bottom and solid earthgrow on the top. Plants are in modified 5 gallon pots under a 400w hps with digital balast. The clones are all new except the so cal masters and the blackberry which are about a month old and recovering nicely from the nite burn, cold burn, and fresh paint they were subjected to in my sorry attempt at having a perpetual grow.

I will post pictures when I get home as I'm at work and don't have access to any of the pictures yet.

Oh, the cabinet! How could I forget! Using a cabinet from homedepot aprox 4 ft wide, 6 ft tall and 21 inches deep. Axial intake fan near the bottom and two axial fans pulling through a DIY carbon scrubber that killed the stink from the 3 chemdawgs and OGxD that were just in there. ALWAYS using RO water. Currently on an 18/6 light cycle.

I plan on keeping this updated every watering/feeding and welcme any feedback you have.

Ok, so here are some pictures of the set-up and the girls. They're a little droopy because I took to long to water them.

-First is an almost full view - Back row is blackberry, cannalope, so cal master, master jack - Front row is so cal master, purple extreme, and the other master jack

This is the scrubber mentioned earlier. Just simple duct fixtures, aluminum screen, and duct tape. Two exhaust fans on the outside sucking through the filter.

Today I topped the cannalope and the purple extreme. Both are looking very healthy. The masters and the blackberry are recovering very well and starting to show colas (it was topped while being tortured in the other box). The masterxjack is drinking daily, easily double what the rest of the girls are drinking. The 400w is being moved as the plants have gotten acclimated to the heat. Temps still averaging in the low 80's, high 70's. Pics coming when the plants recover from the cutting.

Ok, it's been a long time since I've updated this page. I've lst'd all the plants except for the masters and the blackberry. New tops have formed on both mastersxjacks, the cannalope and the purple extreme. The plants have completed one full cycle of advanced nutrients sensigrow A and B. I've also used some sugar daddy sweetener and some golden honey. I identified an issue with too much wind and have made appropriate adjustments to the intake fan.

Ok, I'm here, I took some pics, and I'm putting them up, FINALLY! Sorry, I had a birthday and the jager got to me....

These were taken minutes ago. We have, in order, The Purple Extreme (top view), The MasterxJack and the canalope together, The Cannalope on it's own, both of The MasterxJacks and another shot of The Purple Extreme.

Count the tops and let me know how many you find! (No, seriously, please do. I've counted over 10 times and haven't ever come up with the same number)

I do have to say though, I think topping this round, was an absolute bust! I decided to lst about a week after I topped because my buddy pulled 6 tops off a green crack girl he has and I SAW THE LIGHT! Seriously people, LST IS THE SHIT! I plan on putting a screen in the small veg box I have that I just got ready for upgrade! I got another of the fans that I have for exhaust on the cabinet and that's gunna be exhaust for it, added two more 100w equivalents (up to 7 now, 5 on top and 2 hanging), re-potted the So Cal Master, and added a homemade housing to direct the intake fan away from the girl in there.

Thoughts anyone? I'm looking for some feedback if you've got it.

Back again. To clarify, all the pictures above are with the hps on. The girls aren't actually yellow.

good to know they looked yellow to me. Please tell me more about your cannalope clone. You said it was new so was it that big when you got it? I got some sprouts now and will be lst them and most likely using 400 watt to flower also. Ill hang around and watch what happens..what soil and nutes you using?

I got the clone about 4 weeks ago and she was about 8 inches tall. I let her settle in for a week, then topped her, then a week later I started my lst which is now in week two. I got her from a dispensary I frequent and she was really healthy.

I put some sand down over the soil since I was having gnat problems. Here are some pictures. I waterred just before I put the sand down.

Nutes are advanced nutrients sensigrow a and b, sugar daddy, and golden honey for veg, got some bud candy, and some hawaiian bud and bloom for flower. I plan on using the golden honey through the whole grow.

Update! With the sand down I have had zero gnats! It's a little harder to water (have to move a couple patches of sand and water directly into the soil) but it seems totally worth it, so far.

This longer veg time isn't something I'm used to, but hey, at least I'm gaining more patience!

I'm curious to know how peopl get their plants to grow an inch or so a day. I'm not getting growth half that fast and I'm curious if I'm missing something. Does anybody have any tips on how I can get my girls to grow faster? They get plenty of water. Good nutes, great light, they're in good soil with good temps and humidity. Is it possibly because they've been lst'd? I see tops that are coming up, is the slow growth because there are a bunch of tops? HELP!

BUGS! Ok ladies and gents, I didn't kill the spider mites completely. I checked on the girls before work and wouldn't ya know, more white spots! Thank god it's only on the far right masterxjack plant, which was the only plant to have bugs in the first place, but still, I hate bugs! I'm gunna take her out tonight and give the underside of her leaves a good soaking of pyrethrin. Then in a couple days I'll do it again and hopefully that solves the problem.

I also had some heat issues due to the sand. The small area the plants are in, between the lamp and the sand, rose in temperature by at least 15 degrees and we had some small brown patches on a couple leaves. Easy fix though, I moved the lamp up and turned on the oscolating fan, now temps are back to normal!

Any insight yet? I'm looking for some sort of feedback, if u have any, post it!

didnt know u had mites...thats y i am not getting any clones right now

Ok folks, I'm back from the mountains! Looks like all the mites are gone, thank god, and all the girls survived in my absence. The newer tops on the cannalope grew almost an inch while I was gone but the master jacks took off! I'll get some updated pics soon. Looks like were only a couple weeks away from flowering!

Here's the scrog box and some updated photos under the 400w. Under the dome there's a grape ape showing taproot and three beans that came off a friends green crack. The tall plants with two main branches are the masterxjacks and the slender plant is the the so cal master.

Wow! Man, I didn't realize how Shitty my pix are! Stupid iPhone! I'll try to remember to start using our camera =) I checked this morning and were 4 for 4 on tap roots showing. I'm gunna get them into a small pot or some keg cups in the next couple days. I'll update more pix then.

Ok folks, we flipped to flower last night. Now the fun begins!

Well, one of the masterxjack's grew balls all over. Something isn't right with this setup. It's either the cheap pots, the hot soil, or the nutes. My guess is a combo of the three. Whatever the case, I took the dude and put him in a new pot with some new soil being very careful of the root system but removing a large amount of crappy soil. Outside he goes!

I've got my first bubbler bucket in what was going to be a cfl scrog box. All signs are pointing to hydro, and soon. Thank god man gives you come of your money back! I'll start a new thread when everything gets going.....
