400w LED v 600w HPS Comparison Journal.. Which is the best option? Let's find out!

So far from what I'm seeing is the sf400 is one bright ass light, it stays with the 600w at all ranges, but the vs4300 has better spread and is more consistent, it drops off the least..

The PL4500 is still putting out good numbers for its price range, I was surprised.. The 18in mark is its sweet spot

Here is another observation…
The PL4500 runs the hottest “enough so I let them know about it”, you can not touch this light when it’s been running…
The VS4300 runs very cool, hardly much heat and the sf4000 does get warm but you can hold your hand on it, the pl4500 you can not, it will hurt if you do.
Heat in my room isn’t an issue but in tents it might be.

I have started germinating seeds, I'm old so the only method I use is paper towel method, been using this method for many years and it hasn't failed me yet.

Things will start to pick up from here on..

HVAC crew will be in next week to redo system, after that I should be able to dial in my rooms even more, I'm looking into mini splits but we will see.

I'm getting ready to build 4x4 pvc scrog nets for each section, I'm hoping to have this done before next month, this is going to set me back another 150.00+, and due to shrinkflation, I will be going with 1/2 inch pvc pipe instead of 1 inch.

More to come on this as I pick up the supplies.

Really interseting!

My teenagers wilt pretty quick if I put my 300w LED from 20% to 40% power, but i've got some other issues going on too. So make use of that dimmer dial, if you need too.

Everything will be adjusted by par meter and ppfd charts, I'm not going to guess how much I need to dim or move lights, I'll adjust then based on what ppfd I should be at.

I originally got the par meter to do tests, but now I see its valuable all the time.

Latest update..

I had HVAC buddies over yesterday, good news is they are installing my venting system at the end of this month and I'll be able to fine tune my environment, bad news is this shit is setting me back over 12k dollars, I swear it never ends.

This will put my grow tent project on hold for a bit, I was going to buy a couple 4x8's or a 10x10 but this will have to be put on hold until the wife calms down some..

Going to buddies today to press some rosin, I need some after hearing about that hit.

Here are the little babies starting to grow..

I will get another update when more is going on, I do still have to go out today and get some pvc for the scrog nets, I already had that allocated before that 12k hit.

Thanks for this post. Put a smile on my face, great way to start the morning. Solid seedlings look like they could remain standing in a windstorm. Love the mycelium in the previous soil pic.

New developments..

I got a 10x5 @VIVOSUN Official grow tent for 1 of my veg areas.

Just like my SF4000 I got it at an unbeatable price, I could not pass it up, its 6 months old, it had 1 run on it before buddies girl told him it was too big and he had to get rid of it..

Great quality, no tears, no holes, and the zippers are heavy duty, I do not see any problems with this tent going forward..

The only thing wrong with the tent is its missing one velcro vent cover on the bottom, this is an easy fix or maybe I can order that piece..

I now need to get the ventilation system for this and also figure out how i can get some led lights up in it.

Time to make a 5 star meal for the wife and get her in a good mood :)

Everything is moving along, I have alot going on at the moment but it always seems to stay that way for me..

I still have all the lights set st 350 ppfd but now they are starting to form true leaves, I will be raising this number up soon..

Still a long ways to go, still small seedlings and not much to look at right now, but that will change before ya know it..

More to come as it develops..

Looking back, my wife really loves me lol.. I didn't think I'd be able to talk her into a grow tent this fast, I thought I was going to have to work for it, but was a damn good deal "120 CAD", I couldn't pass it up, it's in perfect shape.. I already scrubbed it down and it's good to go..

I love catching second hand gear by someone who buys it brand new and then realizes they suck at growing and then basically give away the barely ran equipment to get it out of their house..

One man's dumbass move is my hidden treasure, I will take all the newb gear I can get :)

Just as I say this lol, I just found an 8inch vivosun inline fan, buddy bought a few 8in inlines and didn't need most of them, this one is practically brand new for 50 bux..

I will be picking up inline fan soon..

8inch exhaust should be good enough for the 10x5..

Got to love how legalization opened up a budget growers paradise, so many people try to grow and quickly realise it's not for them, then my hippy ass who loves to grow, swoops in and takes all this practically new gear for a fraction just so they can get rid of it.. :)
