Timeo Danaos et dona ferentes...
>:(...

A latin phrase ....
...Its literal meaning is "I fear the Danaans [Greeks], even those bearing gifts" or "even when they bear gifts"....

Aouch ! ...

Well..Even if they're your own family I might add ...

Danaan grower has single plant under four Cree CXA3070.
Doing some further -weird- tests ..
About warm white cob's growing abilities....

Grower meets beautiful girl .
Grower and girl go for holidays ...

But,not before grower went over to his brother to ask him to take care of the poor little mj specimen under test ...

"Yeah-yeah ,no problem junior.Go have a nice time and I'll take care of the plant . "

Well ...Brother met a girl too ....
And went for holidays too !

And their mother was asked to take care of the plant ....
(water it ,mainly ...)

But mother with her sister went for holidays too ...

And father was asked to do the 'farming duties' ...

Well ...He agreed ,only to be carried away -a bit later - to a fishing trip with his pals ! ....

Is it the weather ?
Those 40 Celcius degrees ?
Maybe is the water ...Something inside this country's water ...

Something 's wrong ....

The specimen .....
Well ,everybody said that it looked great ...
(those cxa chips ,kick serious @$$ ... )

Though ....
Nobody has a clue how the plant got dried out .....

Father says is the water ...
Something's wrong with the water .....

Yeah,of course something's wrong with the water !!! >:(
Everybody in this family dived, have been bathing, fishing and swimming in that stuff ( -who knows what else ...)
and of course drunk plenty of it ...
Except of the plant....

Never trust a greek !
.....:-?.....
Especially if you're family-related .....

I'm so totally f@#$%^ pissed -off ...
:cuss:>:(:cuss:>:(
.

Little like my home..lady's plants perfectly watered but my garden goes dry as well as our dogs water bowl...right next to her plants...lol. That's where humor comes in...haha

Unless I am mistaken, its not just about the LEDs using less power, its also about them lasting much longer?

Conventional light has to be replaced after like 4,000 hours? where as these LEDs are rated for 50,000 hours?

That is about 12 conventional light replacements in the lifetime of the LED, that is a few hundred $ saved over the life of the LED, and its a pretty safe bet that electric prices will keep going up, at least in the near term.
Don't count on anywhere near 50K hours, marketing hype, but even at 25K (@ >90%) they more than earn their keep, and will only get better

SDS sorry to hear my brother.

When I was married to # II, I was traveling 5 days a week. Had 2 beauties in an F & D (under a 1000w HID street lamp). They were each 4 ft tall and 5 ft wide with primary leafs bigger than both my hands side-by-side. I would come home to limp leafs. She refused to refill the fucking nutes while I was gone, even though they were mixed. Just one of many reasons why it only lasted 13 months

@coolbreez1

2.3 million hours at 45c. Looks like if kept cool enough the only things that will have to be changed is drivers.

http://www.ledsmagazine.com/articles/print/volume-9/issue-2/features/are-you-using-all-of-the-lumens-that-you-paid-for-magazine.html

"The concept of using higher drive current also applies to LED families other than the XP-G. For example, the XLamp XM-L family is rated for 3000-mA maximum drive current. At 67% of maximum rated drive current (2000 mA), the TM-21 L70 projections yield a reported value of 36,300 hours based on 6000 hours of LM-80 testing. That 36,000-hour reported result is gated by the LM-80 test time and is valid across the LM-80 temperature range. But the calculated projections range from 2.3 million hours (at 45°C) to 160,000 hours (at 85°C)."

Not sure how correct this information is or if sds even agrees. Seems possibly valid to me. It at least shows how long these can potentially last if kept near 50c.
