Thanks for the info... Are they really as powerful as these are for just $9? I do live about 20 minutes from a Costco haha. As for the wiring, no I haven't figured it out yet. But I will try connecting the two lights together and then adding just one plug to it. That seems like the simplest way to do it.
Its the exact same thing It sounds like. This is what they have at costco and what I bought. I took the plastic covers off for the bulb to breath and someone said it helped not block in the lumens (dont know if this is true cause I dont have a light meter but did it anyway)

Wow I thought it would just be the bulb for $9, but the whole thing huh? Do they have a plug or you have to wire it like the ones I bought? I left the covers on mine in hopes to keep in some of the heat. I have them in a tent and the temps up around 88 right now.

Cfl's are hot!

just for fun: I found 45watt (they only compared them to 100watt) They were 97 cents, thanks to the local electricity company. Because of the low watt comparison. The life is only 6,000hrs and lumens only 2000. They are lights of america brand. I think they may be old ones. Also the base says 42w and the package says 45. For less than a buck who cares, use them around the house. Also they are not the spiral shape.

Since when? Normal CFL's aren't hot at all. You can grab the whole bulb and it's not hot! Anyways I bought a humidifier today to raise the humidity and keep the temp down so that should help.

You have to wire it in. After looking at the pics that you took it looks EXACTLY like the same thing. The difference it sounds like is that mine were made with a photo switch ...... meaning that they would automatically turn on when it got dark ( hence security light ) but I just cut that part out to be normal.

My set up isn't very different then yours. I am growing a white indica strain ( free clone don't know what it is ) and it is doing great under these lights. I am actually flowering with these lights also. The only major difference between mine and yours is that I am doing it hydro....... and I had to make a scrubber cause it started to stink up the hole house..... Good luck man!!!!! its fun!

....... I will give you $10 and some bandaids if you grab my cfl! That shits hot! I think it depends on what type of cfl's and how powerful they are.
Haha, well the ones that I have are 26w daylight bulbs. I have four of them and they don't get hot at all.

No there's no difference between flood light or spot light. I searched for those other bulbs and the 4u-65w are the ones I have. They have built in ballasts, and the r10 65w ones don't look like they do.

I assume that you would get a bigger yield using the 100w. No idea how much of a difference it would make though.

i found 85w and 100w cfls ate home depo what would be the difference ???
I don't think those bulbs have a ballast in them. Read the box carefully. I believe they need to be installed in a fixture that has it's own ballast. In my experience, if it has a mogul base chances are good it is not a self-ballasted lamp.

FWIW, here is the ballast inside of a 105w CFL that I have (regular, not mogul socket). It's an identical bulb to the 105watter that ebay guy also sells (got mine from 1000bulbs though).

I experimented with various CFL's for a while. Eventually I decided they are fools gold for my circumstances. Sometimes I wish I could get my money back from the CFL's that I now have laying around.
