Hi everyone just want some opinions on which would be better out of the two fans to increase airflow from my 160 cfm fan in my grow area atm.

1 : 270 cfm centrifugal 6" , no details about noise or wattage.

2. can fan max pro 2 speed 350 cfm mix flow 6" 40w no noise details.

leaning towards can fan, some help? :)

What size is your growing area?

What size/type of lighting?

It’s usually always best to go with a centrifugal fan rather than any other lesser quality booster style fan.

But ultimately it depends on area size and lighting.

Hey,

3x3x6

and 315w LEC.

Hmm, alright I see, reason is they use 2-3x more power.

The Phresh Hyper Mixed Flow Inline Fan - 150MM (6" Inch) | 315CFM | Speed Adjustable looks promising aswell?

That hyper fan is far more expensive than I thought it was going to be.

Personally I would choose a SYSTEMAIR RVK150A1 should be all the air movement you’re gonna need.

The only thing with the hyper fan above is that it has an attached speed controller already.

You can pick up a systemair fan for around £60-£80/$80-$100 so you’d need to allow for a speed controller to be able dial it in properly.

Check the prices you can get these items for.

The Hyper fan seems like it would do a good job.

Centrifugal fans are often quieter but the drop off is big in comparison, from the tests ive seen (lots on youtube) you lose 50% straight away but after that they do continue to push well, less drop off overall, like for 5m of duct and a filter and a bend its a big drop off but add another bend and another few meters and the drop off is only slightly more.

Now I just did a little more research on the mixed flow CAN to see if I could find some info on noise levels as I have not run mixed flow fans. So I thought I better share this

Read the info they give on 6" fans, I find it hard to believe to be honest but they claim the 6" cant handle a filter well.. Could be they are trying to upsell their more expensive products..

This is what I was referring to in your other thread,

Same brand but old school work horse. Mine must be on its 8th-9th year of running 24/7, although it no longer belongs to me.
I know lots of folks running these and not one person who ever had a problem.
Sound wise they are about the same as any other fan, around 50db level.

Anyhow that's my 2cents.
DO wait for others with experience on mixed flow fans but I thought It better you had that info on the fan your looking at than not having it given your upgrading.

9 Years strong woah! Thats solid hmm will keep in mind.
going between this hyper fan and an rk. both seem highly efficient.

Ive used the 6 inch max fan in the past and now use the 8 inch and they're great fans. They have plenty of power to handle a filter and are pretty quiet.

I've never had a Vortex fail. Vortex and Fantech (for their 12xl) are the only two companies I'll use for fans.
