Centrifugal fans are often quieter but the drop off is big in comparison, from the tests ive seen (lots on youtube) you lose 50% straight away but after that they do continue to push well, less drop off overall, like for 5m of duct and a filter and a bend its a big drop off but add another bend and another few meters and the drop off is only slightly more.
Now I just did a little more research on the mixed flow CAN to see if I could find some info on noise levels as I have not run mixed flow fans. So I thought I better share this

Read the info they give on 6" fans, I find it hard to believe to be honest but they claim the 6" cant handle a filter well.. Could be they are trying to upsell their more expensive products..
This is what I was referring to in your other thread,

Same brand but old school work horse. Mine must be on its 8th-9th year of running 24/7, although it no longer belongs to me.
I know lots of folks running these and not one person who ever had a problem.
Sound wise they are about the same as any other fan, around 50db level.
Anyhow that's my 2cents.
DO wait for others with experience on mixed flow fans but I thought It better you had that info on the fan your looking at than not having it given your upgrading.
