roots are not "heaviest" on the bottom... Cord roots which are most dense start within the first couple inches of root growth. The upside down cup just provides a more stable base... In a party cup grow, roots take over the ENTIRE cup.... If the get stalled going down, the just come right back up, if you don't believe me, cover your medium for a week then see how many feeder roots are on the surface when you uncover it. You'll be amazedI'm curious about whats in the glass jar, also, can you see the roots through the glass from the bottom? Did you just tape to the jar? Drainage? You have a very interesting setup, would like to see more about how you designed/built it. I think upside down cup may have a decent advantage with the wider bottom where the roots like to be heaviest.
