9/11/2001 - 9/11/2014

Was the immediate decade after 9/11/2001 better or worse than the previous one?

So more than a decade later, what do you think we've gained/loss during that time period?

Imo, I think we've lost much, if not all of our standing in the international community. Our foreign policy has left us in shambles abroad as well as here at home. The militarization of the domestic police forces is a common occurrence today, 10 years ago I don't remember it being nearly as bad.

Here's a clip from 9/12/2001;

I remember the sense of unification over terrorism everyone felt at that time, now most of us are disgusted by the thought of entering another war.

So for me, I'd mark it up as a huge loss all around (except for defense contractors and politicians who only get richer), America, the world, it's citizens lost a lot.. not only lives.

World trade is a death machine.
I think organized religion is a death machine.. Here's a quote I shared on Facebook, and this is the message my dad(a Christian who never goes to church) sent to me afterwards...;

"Why do you insist on letting everyone know that you're a fucking atheist with that shit on social media. Do you ever want to have a friend? If you do stop running that bullshit in their face"

Damn, me and my "shoving it in everyones face" posts, eh...

We lost freedoms. More and more we are freely giving away our freedoms in the name of staying safe from terrorism. The militarization of the police is unconstitutional. The fact that we keep oking this type of shit is disgusting. The police cameras in the name of safety is a joke so is the fact that they have cameras on there cruisers that run plates for warrants in milliseconds but don't wear personal go cameras to keep us safe from them.

Those who surrender freedom for security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one.

There was a republican on the news tonight saying the same thing.
Damned if I can find the article.

I can see your point. But the thing is that the people in this country are cultural Christians as much as anything else.

Although these people often don't stand out as religious, they do have faith and for some reason many people of faith cannot stand seeing anything negative about their religious views.

So would you rather let everyone know how much smarter you are or win friends?

Like I told my dad; if someone chooses to ostracize me for my beliefs, I wouldn't want them as a friend anyway
