Very nice plant cdd. I have the 190 xgs and love it. I'm using happy frog and pure blend pro soil.. The ladies look very happy. My gals are 30 days into flower. No where near as fat as yours though. My days of HPS are over. My first run paid for my light and electric bill. Well worth investment.

When I grew the plants shown earlier in this thread, they were 4.5-5' from the top of the container. I lollipopped the plants to create about 2.5-3' of growth on top. It looked to me like I'd have a lot of air buds below that.

Personally, I'd go for sidelighting rather than concerning myself with penetration. Supplement with Cree LED lightbulbs or PAR38 spot/floods sold at Home Depot. I think better coverage works better than concentrating all the watts at one place.

The new A51 model should be awesome this way. It's supposed to be smaller modules that can be hung separately, or joined together to form a monolithic fixture. Dimmable, giving flexibility for how much light you supply overall.

No. Side penetration is needed. My xgs190 gets 12-18 inches of penetration. Maybe! That 2 ft from canopy.The light will grow tight hard buds covered in resin though, Good enough for a personal grow.

Thanks fellas I'll keep that in mind. Plus I've been hearing some good things about the cree bulbs. That may be my decision.
