a lot of my fellow tokens are against the war in afganistan

id just like to say that my buddy joined the marines 2 years ago and he just got back from a tour in afganistan. Me and him share a lot of the same friends and they were talking to him about how theres no point to the war over there and how its just senseless killing and what not. my friend explained how much good we do over there. he gave out left over mres ( meals ready to eat ) helped establish political systems and his company played a big role in protecting a school under construction. he talked about countless other things they did over there including fighting the war on terrorism. the reason i started this thread is that id like people to not bash our troops or the war because they do a lot of good over there and most of our soldiers and marines are happy to go.

Behind you and them 100 percent. There was a thread posted yesturday that was exact oppisite and I blasted the punk that started it. He claimed he was going to get a bumper sticker saying he would not support, I told him put it on his car and come over here. It sickens me to think that people sitting around drinking a beer smoking a j are going to think they know shit about what goes on over there.

Imagine how cost effective it is to NOT build a school because you didn't accidentally drop a 500# GP on it in the first place?

If we were really doing so much good over there, IED's would be a thing of the past.

We realy have not gone to war since wwII, we now go on peace keeping missions they call wars, we care for the children we care for those who oppose the ones that have failed them. That is what he is trying to say with this thread. We have the might to destroy afganastan without ever sending even one service man or woman over there. That is what makes me so proud of all who serve, they dont go to war brother they go to aide. Good for them and God Bless each and every one of them.

actually there was NO school there before. and ides are a problem because the taliban don't like things such as school where kids learn from books that rant the quaron

Why would Afghans need medical help if all the Marines and soldiers were helping them and not hurting them?

Marine Infantry 0311 is not trained JUST to kill, they receive training in plenty of other things too like first aid, outdoor survival, improvised operations etc etc etc. You can't just pigeonhole Grunts like that.

FYI All Marines are basic riflemen (0311) to begin with.

"Go to aide?"... lmao. Hm. No wars? Uh... The Korean War? The Vietnam War? Those ones don't count? Albeit those were proxy wars with China, they still included mass amounts of people dying, theaters, combatants, battles & us tucking our tail between our legs & running.

it means every Marine must qualify with his/her rifle at least once a year.
-it means if needed any Marine regardless of job can stand a post such as convoy escort, guard duty, etc etc.
-it means if your position were overran by the enemy, you could stand up and defend yourself and your position.
-it means at any time you can be made to do duties that are in the combat side of the USMC regardless of your job.
-it means every Marine has some form of infantry training to fall back on.


You obviously don't understand how helping people, yet having to provide them with even more medical attention is somehow contradictory? I don't need "Help" if it requires stitches or amputations.

FYI: My knowledge of the Marine Corps is infinite compared to yours, so settle down there fella.

I sit at home and smoke j's and drink beer and know what's going on over there, had 1 brother in law with 3 tours (never returned from the last one), 2 cousins with 2 completed tours, and 3 uncles (2 tours). Have spoken very intimately with all of them and have come to the same conclusion that most veterans have..

talk to some veterans who have returned home to have their country turn on them and see what they say about the wars they are fighting, how much good is coming from the work they do? and finally ask the spouses of the ones who never returned home how the very limited spousal support is (maybe only here in Canada)?

why should we respect our troops? because they put they're life on the line, take shit from anyone and everyone thats a higher rank, a lot of them get shot at, they always help the people out in the countries they're in (given they're not an ass hole, of course theres ague that rape and murder but thats the same everywhere in the whole world) they have to go through so many horrors and tramatic experiences. they volunteer for this too because they know its right. yes theres ague that do it for the college money ( thats the only real benefit ) everything else that they get for free is only while they're in the military. BUT THE THING YOU SHOULD RESPECT MOST IS THAT THEY GO THROUGH ALL THAT FOR LITTLE FUCKING PUNKS LIKE YOU. my friend has nightmares all the time now! he spent the night at my house one night while he was on leave after a combat tour and woke up screaming from a nightmare he had about the war he went to fight in. but he never complained about any of that. Keep in mind he and a lot of other men in woman go through this for shit pay, temporary benefits and SOME money for college. so next time you want to disrespect a veteran stfu and think about how lucky you are that people volunteer to do this shit so little spoiled shits like you don't have to. you make me sick
