yes I think there is. The babies I have flowering right have same feeding schedule. The two with thicker stems and have been trained where the other two have skinnier stems and have not been cropped have smaller flowers. I know there's many variables but they all have been fed the same nutrients etc. Etc.

I'm surprised there isnt more discussion on this. I've asked on a few forums and I'd say 80% of people think that there is no correlation. I don't see how there isn't one!
 
I think there should be more discussions on this subject. As well as defoliation. I use many techniques and I guess you could call them high stress techniques. Lst, supper cropping, fimming, mainlining. It had all been paying off so far. Many people in my opinion do not take the time to check things out for them selves. I have and now I can say with confidence that these combined techniques work. In trying to upload video but it won't let me.
 
I guess I do a "lazy supercrop" then... I simply snap the prime colas right before their pre-flower stretch or even a few wks in and lay them on their sides.This works well to open up the plant and the pre-colas receive more light as a result . Most strains recover quickly & respond well to this: DSCN0871.JPG

Its not necessarily a lazy super cropping in my own opinion. I think that you can start training at certain stages to do what you want it to do although sometimes a plant may try to do it's own thing. Right now I've snapped the main two colas on all my babies and they ranged anywhere from 6 to 8 inches in height so I can achieve desire canopy structure due to my room and the amount of space I have.
 
I've been trying different techniques over the past year and super cropping can work really well with a lot of strains. The only issue I had with it was with my white strawberry skunk, the stem is so thick and dense that there's no "crushing" or "bending" it, that fat bastard will just straight up snap lol. That strain also isn't the best choice for mainlining, so I've just been topping her and letting her do her own thing.
 
It's amazing how much abuse the plant can take and keep on growing. Of course you want as many tops as you can get, but the single best training you can do to get bigger tops? Thin out all that larfy crap that isn't gettting any light, the plant will direct more energy to whats left in prime light. I tend to leave the leaves and take the growing shoots/tops/branches that won't ever finish or it won't be worth it to go that long anyway. Mind you total yield might actually go down, but it's worth it to me to not deal with all the bullshit tiny premature nugs anyway. This a correlation between bigger stems and bigger buds, but only where there is bigger light.

Sc or any other training method is not some miracle worker. If you can train a plant to take advantage of your lighting or other setup considerations, your going to get more yield.

If you want to maximize yield indoors then you need to train your plants (unless your going SOG...obviously)

agree this is correct, the main advantage of Lst/fim/topping/super cropping is so you can have a legal number of plants and get a huge yield indoors. For example in Michigan you can only have 12 plants so naturally you want to maximize the yield of those 12. If you're allowed to run 100 plant old school SOG you'll likely get much better yield even if they're very tightly packed in the same room. So it comes down to plant counts why this is so popular and effective indoors for people who want to stay legal.

Long time ago when the federal government changed the law and made mandatory minimum sentences based on plant counts... the old-school way of SOG growing disappeared. That is why when everything was illegal most everybody only grew 49 plants per location, so they would avoid the mandatory minimum prison sentence.

I wasnt saying topping or training was bs... it quite the opposite. It's an art and the secret to great yields..

But all this LST"super cropping", etc etc etc is funny as it is essentially all the same shit.

I can get up to 10 oz of dried bud per plant without all the make-work. One cut in the seedling stage, grow it naturally like a normal person would - done.

If you want to see how complicated and confusing growing a weed can be, just lurk around cannabis forums for a while. One thing's fer sure around these parts - most will fuck it up.
 
For myself I only super-crop when the plant is too tall for my lighting. I've done this at various stages of flower and have not found an increase in yield unless I compare it to what would have happened to the cola or branch if I let it fry itself under my lights.

I will also agree that super-cropping isn't for all strains. If you got a "woody" branch you're more likely to snap it off instead of bending it over.

I can see super-cropping a good alternative if someone has a low-height grow area.

You are correct about it all being the same technique. Although I did not come up with the names, I can say that tying up the arms of my plant to ensure that the plant get a enough light to certain area is not as stressful to the plant as If I was knuckling the arms or super crop it as some may call it. So is the name that the technique that you are saying is bull shit or is it the actual act of the technique that it does not work? I'm a little confused.

Well around these parts...we tend to not leave them alone at all. I guess we are not normal. But that is fine in my book because we are getting over 2lb per plant.
 
Ime the best option is to combine UBs topping technique with LST and supercropping. Then take clones of that 3 weeks after the flip to 12/12 to create a monstercrop, and then apply UBs topping technique with LST and supercropping to each individual branch. Guaranteed 2lb + 10oz per half a plant!

Then after harvest..re veg them for a monster monster plant!

so for the newbs.... mh>ubct>LST>FIMM>hps>clone, and repeat.
oh yeah, and LEDs and miracle grow.
