Adding a third light to AG Classic Hood

This is a first (and total amateur) grow using the AG Classic

I saw a way on this site to add a third light to the two-light AG hood and decided to try it. It ended up being pretty simple.

Pop out the AG logo on the hood, pushing from the inside of the hood. Get an extension cord. Test that your cord plug wedges in place facing inward before adding the socket and light. Add a plug-in light socket and screw in a CFL (I used a 100W equivalent, 5500K from Home Depot- two for eight dollars). Run the extension cord out through the hood and wedge it in place facing inward.

It will be lower than the built-in hood lights by a few inches but that's OK for what I'm considering a first and simple grow experiment.

Why is it important to have it in the hood? I did one grow in an AG and I just suspended a few 42w cfls around the sides of the foliage.

The hood is important for directing the light back gown towards the plant.rmemember that cfls emit light from its sides.

oh and ditch the foil, it can cause hot spots on your plants and damage them.. personally i don't think its worth the risk. better reflective material or nothing at all. IMO!

Shack: Foil removal is in the "plan". I ordered a small grow cabinet from Walmart (only available online):

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=8206250#ProductDetail

It was supposed to be delivered yesterday, but according to them is "delayed". I plan to spray the inside with Krylon white enamel and let it go at that (no Mylar).
After the paint cures (stops smellable outgassing), I'll rig in the existing hardware- fan, light timers, and bubbler.
I've already stopped the pump out of fear of pythium and also because it heats the reservoir to above 80 degrees.
