Yo canna, thanks for chiming in about the flowering time with white leds, much appreciated. Yea the girls bounced back pretty well, not my best looking garden but still not bad I suppose. Not even halfway through bloom and I'm already starting to plan out my next round.

^^^yup, I was thinking some blue mystic autos from nirvana...haha but seriously Im thinking about having some self control next round and limiting myself to just 2 strains instead of 6 like this time. Also have a few new surprises lined up, keeping my fingers crossed it all works out according to plan.

Would it be better to say that adding white LEDs does nothing to decrease flowering time? I just can't see how adding white lights in week 7 of a 10 week grow will turn it into a 12 week grow. Or am I just nitpicking? Or missing something? I am pretty wacked out on pain relievers lately.
 
I'm doin 3 critical jack 3 afgan kush ryders 1 vertigo n 1 auto white widow there about 2 inches tall now presently I have 2 auto cheese and one northern lights blue... the northern seems to be a wicked quick grower so far its flowering and I gain almost a inch and a half a day with 2 blackstars and and agrosun 400 mh wich I just swapped out for a 600 hortilux... I'm lovin my nlb so far my buddies got an aeroflo 60 n his plants were crushin mine (started at same time) but now my nlb is as tall if not taller with tons of bud sights...I've heard its also very potent... idk we shall see its my first grow so....

ginger, garlic, ginseng, turmeric are great natural anti inflammatory just to name a few, get that shit in your diet and you won't need as many aleve, advil tylenol..., I agree with your comment, I cant see how white light would make flowering last longer...

I read canna's comment as just using white leds in general from start to finish the plants will take longer to finish. I suppose it makes some sense if red spectrums are what drives the blooming stage then those that lack more red would take slightly longer to finish? I don't know, I've never tried flowering with a light that didn't have a red heavy spectrum. Is there a difference in flowering finish time when using mh full cycle vs hps?

Yeah, they finally got back to me, they said they were having email issues. Just waiting on them to get back to me with some par readings now. I'll share that with everyone if/when they send it.

Strains I'm thinking about for next round...hmmm...well I found a new dispensary a few months back where I got the atomic northern lights and strawberry cough clones and they have a super healthy and large selection I'm really having a hard time choosing. If I get seeds from them, I can choose pretty much any TGA subcool strain, DNA genetics strain, or Sohum (southern humboldt) seeds strain. Clones wise I have an even greater selection with everything from alien og, granddaddy, romulan, larry og, different blueberry crosses, purple crosses, lavender, chem dawg, jack herer, sfv og kush...too many choices and that's not even all of them haha
 
^^^^^i'm so fucking jealous right now:)...............the only clones I can get down the street here in PA is for heirloom tomatoes....god I love CA.....

OK I'm nitpicking so I'll say this instead;
Adding white leds that have no red spectrum, or improperly selected red spectrums, or not having enough white leds that do have the proper red spectrums in them, will increase the plants flowering time. I like that statement a little more. It covers RGB, and all phosphor based LEDs. And I'll be proven wrong in 5,4,3,2,.......

And thanks for the tips Endur0xX. I'll keep that in mind, but when it comes to dental pain, give me them man-made drugs though I really should change my diet when the pain flares up or when I'm having work done. I can see it now, me arguing with the IRS that sweet and sour pork is a medical expense :-) .
 
Any updates Puff? I'm curious to see what this xml can do. I notice you have the nicer bushier plants under the apache but can I ask whether they were genetically better at an earlier age already, this would usually carry right through although the kens kush I think it was which was scragglier in your opinion certainly has a thick enough stem it seems to still give you some good bud. Without going back were they clones or seed?

Yo newworld, I'll have the week 4 update in a few hours. I don't know whats up with the kens kush, the definitely stretched the most, I don't think it was because they are under the xml. It was probably when they all got fucked up after transplanting. I'm still expecting decent results off them, probably just going to be all one cola styles on them. its still too early to know which light is going to produce bigger buds. Theare were all clones except the two in party cups.

Sorry I haven't uploaded the week 4 update yet. Ended up having to come to las vegas for a work thing. I did make sure to take pics before I left so when I get back tomorrow I'll do the update. Again sorry for the delay. Peace and what happens in vegas, well you know the rest...
 
Puff, take your time. Spend a few daze there. PSU and the Dawg will water the ladies while they're stealing your panels. You really shouldn't of told them, you know :).

The LED convention is in Vegas this weekend. (Wrong, See Edit) I wanted to go ( no scratch :() to see if I could get enough free samples to make a cool little grow light :). You really should stay in town for that. But for heaven's sake Do Not Buy Another Panel! LOL
 
Wouldn't white LED's be a step backwards? For me, the ability to focus my wattage only into the needed spectrums was a huge appeal of LED and the reason for its efficiency. what pros would an all white LED light have over an HID, I think you would then have to match HID watt for watt.
 
For the most part white LED's are a step backwards, but they offer a few things to the LED only grower that most nm specific lights cannot. They can fill spectral gaps, white leds will "blend lights" by having low output of every spectrum. If you are growing with HID and supplementing with LED this is just dumb because you simply don't need the white, but, like many of us on the forum, most likely you are doing a pure LED run. Temperature, height requirements, wattage requirements are all good reasons, plus the white leds are way better at directing their light than your run of the mill CFL (which has an equally bad spectrum). I don't think that they are good to use purely due to the lack of red for flowering. It's just awesome that they are built from blue leds (which I hate, and are constantly pushed onto the growing community), so even if you buy a 3000k 50w LED array you are still getting a decent ratio of blue to ...orange. That's why pure whites aren't being used stand alone, they aren't yet as tempered towards peak flower power as the standard HPS is yet, but in time you wont see panels built with pure blues at all because the whites still output a ton of blue.

I dont really think it would increase it by 2 weeks or so, what i meant, is it seems the same strain which i've been growing for about 2 years now takes about 10 days longer to show its first pistils, But i've noticed the growth is much more aggresive, but i've added 2 new additives to my nute regime, Compost tea and Sea Acids, but the apollo 6 has 90 degree leds and is focused on the middle part of the tent, and the 2 blackstars are on either sides, and im sure the new additives have increased lushness and growth rate. A ex mother plant is under the 500bs and growth is different on teh colas which are on the far side of the tent which are not receiving any white light, while the buds which are receiving white light look completely different, I really need to post some pics of this, hopefully i shall get sometime this weekend.

2 weeks was just a number I used as an example. And pics of that ex-mom would be great cannabuilding.
