Advanced Stealth Hydro Bubbeponics Thread

Anyone want to help me diagnose a plant, even though this is the wrong forum... I miss this thread.

Small plant, 2 weeks old, it has 4 fan leaves. The leaves are twisting. The fan leaf, even though they are still very small are twisting.

If you where to grab the leaf with your thumb and index finger, then twist.

In Hydro, using Fox Farm.

EC- .6
Ph- might be a little high 7.2, but I'm not sure if this would cause it.
 
What's the heat and res temp like? 7.2 is high but like you I'm not sure that's the problem. Ec of .6 ( about 300 ppm) should be ok. You using any additives?

Res temp is at 73 Degrees. Room temp is at 78 Degrees. Running a 400 watt MH 24/7.

Using the Fox Farm Nutes, using there seedling/cutting dosage on the feeding chart. They say I should be @ a EC of 1, but I'm at .6 using there ratios. The chart calls for Big Bloom and Grow Big for seedlings.

I did pick up some Cal/Mag, just in case I need it this time around. I think the magnetic driven pump makes some of the hard minerals drop out of the solution quickly.

I will post a pic if it get any worse by the end of today.

True another good reason to remove the pump as soon as you can.
 
INSTALLING THE CHILLER

So I drilled through my table to keep the lines short and the flow as high as possible. When the pump came in I almost lost it because it's a bit smaller than I thought and I figured there absolutely no way It would pump the water back up into the Res. But I suppose with a closed line system it doesn't take much. Nice and Neat....

Right down to the pump which is isolated and on the concrete floor for heat dispersal.

So I hooked up the lines and the instructions say to run water through the unit for 30 min. So I let it run for a 45min in a pHed bucket of water. Didn't include pics sorry. But then I shortened the lines and hooked it up to the system. Let it run for 20 min and checked the pH. Spot on at 5.8 so I doubt anything from the machining inside the chiller changed the water at all. It is meant for fish, which IMO are a bit more finicky than plants. Anyways Hooked it all up where it sits to check the flow. Flows perfect...

Put everything back together plugged it in and turned it on. According to the chiller the .99 stick on thermometer was spot on at 74 degrees. I set it for 63* and
I'll check it in an hour and see how quickly it cools the
tank. Whaddaya think guys? comments welcome.

I like how it has the built in thermostat so if it gets too cool it has a heater as well and will bring the temp back up quickly to the desired level.

Not that cool and one serious way to fix the problem permantely! Nice that it has the heater just in case.

Mine is running about 67-68 with the cool wet weather we've been having here and that's good enough for now. When winter really sets in it may get to the low 60's on it's own . . . I hope.

Stil have that thermal tape that I plant to use but to really test it I may have to wait for summer.
 
I will never start another grow with the weather still warm, that is for sure.

Jonny, I posted pics of your old grow in my thread to make a point and show someone it can be done. Let me know soon if you object, and I will delete them.

Man its so much easier growing with the weather cold like this..or cool down here it dont get THAT cold.It might get down to like 30 at night for a week and thats our winter..other than that it stays around the 50's..Started a new thread with DNA lemon skunk..Johnny..i went back on my Hightimes issue and man it was the centerfold for December!WOW:bigjoint:
 
Yeah I have a big poster of some lemon skunk ....There was a whole thing in "treating yourself" one of the other magazines that circulates about it

Yeah I hang posters all over the spots that aren't covered in Mylar in My growroom. Give them something to strive for... :bigjoint:
 
Question.. If the tips of your fan leafs are curling upward, does this indicate the need for more or less nutes? I remember Roseman saying something about tips down, need less nutes, tips up need more..Is that correct?

I feel that it may also indicate a mag deficiency, not sure if I'm miss understanding that??

Currently in week 1 feeding schedule, running a EC of 1.6
 
You are right that down means too much nutes. Up usually means heat or possible mag deficiency. It it only on the top leaves or is it all over the plant? If it stays at the very tips of the leaves it's no big deal.
