Hey man. Got a few AG cloning Qs.
When you pop them into the homemade plugs, do you leave a little of the stem below them?
How close to water level?
Are you using the watering feature while cloning?
What are you using for your 'plugs'? (I just tried a cut up sponge.)
(Oh, wipe off the top of that AG! Looks ugly
)

The one that was sticking out, into the water... is DEAD...
The one that was just par with the foam... is DYING...
The one that stayed inside the foam struggled, but has 3 inch roots now...

I love you creativity and working to try new stuff. My only worry is that those foam pillows saturate with water and don't breath well when saturated. In my opinion you need something that doesn't absorb to much water and drys fast and just set the ag pump to the tomato setting. That way the roots stay moist but get air and doing drown.

I totally agree and thats what I am using on this grow unfortunately but would like to find something else.

Okay need advice here, Second attempt after a first time disaster caused strictly by me fucking with things,
So started over. I germinated some bag seed to make sure I got 7 sprouts and the transferred them to my AG after scrubbing everything to get rid of the white mold inside of the tank etc. Don't ask it is really ugly. Anyway I got seven really good looking sprouts that have just pushed thethier domes off in three day. I am only using strictly the Fox Farm from recirculating heavy feeding and am using the tomatoe setting.
Question 1 How often should I feed this bad boy. Weekly. Bi- Weekly What?
Question 2 I will get an air pump and get it in before the roots hit the reservoir. Probably tomorrow. Is that good enough?
Question 3, I read a lot about changing out the bulbs. Change them to what and when?

1. Answer: Korvette1977 reccommends "1/2 strength every week," and filling the reservoir to the brim.
2. Answer: An air pump with an Airstone. An Airstone makes bubbles which produces a nutrient mist that feeds the plants without burning them. There are ball and bar type airstones.
3. Answer: There are different types of aerogardens that predict when the bulbs are dying. Depending on which one you have you can order replacement bulbs from aerogarden or even amazon.com. Regardless, the company reccommends that the bulbs be replaced after 6 months of continuous use. The aerogarden uses compact fluorescent lights, but they were engineered exclusively for AeroGarden. It is also recommended that you buy several other CFL's and carefully place them around the aerogarden. During the vegetating state it is reccommended that you use daylight cfl's and during the flowering stage use the soft white red spectrum cfl's. I personally am still trying to figure out how many to use around the plant, how to time them, and how to physically hook them up.

Actually the air is to oxygenate the water. Roots need air. The warmer the water the less air in it. So the air stone keep air in suspension in the water for the roots. Also helps with keeping 'things' from growing in it. (moving water grows less nasties then still water)
The misting is a aeroponic method, something the aerogarden doesn't do.

i started using the grodan rockwool cubes and juat shaved a lil off to fit in the holes in the AG and i have not had a prob with em at all.They gerned perfect and are growing fine.I wish thw rockwool wouldnt hold so much water,but hey it works better than the sponges to me.

!.if you are using fox farm line then get a fox farm feed chart..i beleive they have one on their site.refill the res when it gets too low.
2.you need the pump with the airstone.
3.get your bulbs here for th AG hood.Aerogarden, Organic Hydroponic Nutrients, Indoor Grow Lights and Supplies - Hydroempire.But youll also need some cfls for side lihgting.i added 6 150w. replacement bulbs and they are way more bushier a whole lot earlier with those extra cfls.

no. just place them in. i germed using the paper towel method and then used some tweezers to place into the sponge when they had a descent tap root length. if your using the sponges with seeds already in, make sure you get all the little bastards out.

there are videos on youtube of people growing low rider & haze in the basic version of the AG. I have the deluxe/master as well. I'm sure this version will be just as good, if not, better than that version
