Hello RUI Air-Potters! I have a different idea for how I want to use air pots in my ebb and flow system which I think will make the transplant into larger pots between veg and bloom super simple and allow for massive root growth. I want to see what you guys thought and maybe get some advice because this will be my first time using air pots.
I have a bunch of the 2 gallon air pots i'm going to pack full of a coco pearlite mix and water normally flooding my veg table. When I move them into the flower room I plan to have my 3X6 tray completely full of hydroton covered with a large amount of my coco pearlite mix. Here's the switch up, I'm going to place the 3 gallon air-pots in the tray without the bottom colored plastic piece so the roots can grow out the bottom of the pot and into the tray without any restriction. Then simply take the plant out of the 2 gallon pot, place it into the empty three gallon air pot in the flower tray and pack that with more of my coco pearlite mix. I'm hoping this will make the transplant into a larger pot simple, and allow the roots to easily grow out the bottom of the larger pot and take over the entire tray.
I was even thinking of just taking the bottoms out of the 2 gallon pots and placing them into the same set up in my flower tray eliminating the need to re-pot my plants because the roots can just grow out the bottom of the air pot and into my tray. I can put the bottom colored piece higher up at like 3 inches while in veg, leaving room for medium once removed and placed into the flower tray. I'll use a SCROG or SOG to help give the canopy some support and never have to re-pot them throughout the entire life cycle.
What do you guys think? Sounds pretty simple but will allow for huge root growth and massive yields.
