I believe you @AquariusPanta
i'l have 8-20" space... i have feeling that it is ok, too...
And i feel that 60centimeters are too far...

i allready have 3500k v29
Also too Uzer, if your thinking about using CPU coolers for your COBS, the fans only need around 1-2 inches separating their tops to the ceiling of the grow cabinet for adequate air flow to be transferred through the HS.

Yes, they are positioned at the moment lower, but i believe, if i don't have a dimmer, i will just use scrog, two hempies, 105w of V29.. and adjust if needed to max height, almost to ceilings, there will be:
6inches pots - 10 inches stems/scrog - 12 inches cannopy so - 28" all plant... 50inches total -2" max COB height - 48 - 28 - 20" are left for lights... Pretty stoner logic, but makes senses and seems legit :D

Mount the heatsink fins up on the inside. With the sink right up against the "ceiling" of the cab you can blow air through the fins. The top of the cab seals off the fins and makes the air flow through and out the other side. It's all inside and stealthy.
Can you draw it, add to my painting :D
I have problems with understanding, i understand, that you tought of blowing thru fins.
I'm just making these lamps for some of my friends too, and i think they want to go classic way, too...

I suck at drawing but i think he is saying to attach the fan perpendicular to the ceiling, not parallel to the ceiling, this way the distance you need for the fan, about 3 cm, will be saved.

Without drawing (because I've yet to eat any breakfast or sip any tea), O&R is saying having your HS(s) attached to the inside ceiling of the cabinet. Have pre-cut holes to fit your fans in the ceiling cabinet above the fins. The fans might stick outside a little but it would cool your HS(s) quite effectively.

I'll draw something here in a while, for the hell of it. I feel like drawing 8)

No matter what, your cabinet is never going to be completely stealth. Odor will eventually leak, light may as well. Someone may roam around looking for a jar of peanut butter and stumble across your green ladies.

The only problems I see with this sketch of mine is that light leak is a possibility from the roof opening (this would be same with any openings though in your case), odor leaks when fans are turned off (lights out), and visual curiosity of the openings may appeal any guests.

On the flip side, your maximizing your space to the fullest while bringing in fresh air through the tops fins of the HS. Plus, you get a few extra inches of grow space for your ladies.

No, don't cut any holes in your cab. Just attach the heatsink to the top, inside the cab, and blow air in from the sides using blower fans attached to the top cab right next to the heatsink. Blower fans, unlike regular PC fans, suck air from the big side and blow out one of the narrow sides, on another axis.

This gets you the absolute minimum wasted vertical space and still get good airflow. If you have a fan mounted on top of the heatsink you not only have an inch for the fan but at least 2-3 inches of space for the fan to suck air. Unless you have a pressure rated fan, the flow will drop very fast as it gets close to a wall.

You can make it stealthy and self-contained but you'll lose maybe 1/3rd of the width of the cab to a compartment for holding the carbon filter, fan, drivers internally light-trapped intake, etc... See Mr. Flux's awesome cab for a totally self-contained and stealthy job.

note, you can have holes in the top of the cab and have external equipment while remaining stealthy if you affix something on top of the cab like a wooden box or storage tote with the bottom removed.

You nailed it!!

For extra credit you can rig up some hose (for the fan) and cardboard ducting (for the exhaust) to have the light cooling loop sucking and venting from/to outside the cab so it doesn't dump all the heat inside of it. It's like a cooltube for LED using the heatsink fins as part of the tube.

actually, make ducting on both sides of the heatsink using cardboard. Use scissors to cut and then bend the cardboard to make rectangular ducting alongside the heatsink. Staple it down then seal it up with tape along the edges. The fans are inside the duct and there is a hole in the back of the cab where it meets the duct, to let air in/out. You install the fans next to the heatsink then staple the duct over it.

this would be looking up at your heatsink inside the cab, fans inside the ducts on the left and exhaust on the right. kewlt00b!

I've been kicking this idea around for a while and wanted to get it out there...

So I've been looking into using reflectors in my next big DIY project, although I'm not for certain the benefits would outweigh the costs. Reflectors are a luxury when it comes to COB fixture building, an expensive luxury.

That being said I'm looking for reflectors specifically for VERO 18's that are reliable and affordable. This, however, has yet to be accomplished and now I'm wondering if anyone has found any decent suppliers/distributors that may have some decent products listed at reasonable prices.

It's really a good deal. High efficiency 90+, premium quality (hopefully) and for only $20? Wish it were EU seller.
e: Actually it's probably the best deal on a driver I've ever seen.

thought I'd throw this in the mix, I linked it in the driver thread. There's a great buy on a 350ma driver on ebay right now - enough to drive 15 or 16 vero 10s for only $20 - http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Philips...7V-LED-Driver-LEDINTA0350C425FO-/251422667632 .... You could put together a pretty killer light for height limited cab for a good price
great price and great driver.. but, not sure that's really for amateurs. I know I wouldn't trust myself around 425Vdc. Just a hobby for me, no sense in killing yourself to save a few bucks.
