alternative methods to add CO2....

Actually as an added note... can anyone back this jello thing up. I'm thinking about it and in my mind I would think if you add jello then CO2 woudl just be released as normal until the gelantin took effect & then either restricted the CO2 alltogether or didn't.

No offense Potlike but I am not convinced & I have a skeptical mind so i don't like to buy anything based on 1 persons testimonial.

no offense taken :) however trying to control dry ice co2 is not a good idea pressurizing dry ice will let off co2 but side effects are a dry ice bomb(google dry ice bomb). sugar/yeast/jello references:

Another alternative not as efficient as the sugar/yeast/jello would breathing in this trash bag constructed this way:

Just buy a bottle setup and stop the hokey stuff.

(like the jello idea! probably smells better then the yeast too!)

Who said anything about using 50 pounds of dry ice? You must be high :P

You have really cheap dry ice where you are at, it will still cost many times more money to use dry ice than bottled CO2 no matter how you try to rationalize it. There is a reason people aren't using dry ice in their grows, can you figure out why?

I use excellofizz at about a 1/4 puck to each of the rooms..vegetative and flowering. May want to look into it. It is pricey but very low maintenance. Helps discourages mites as well.

Dry ice has a few bennies (or hindererences)

It will dry out the room (aka: lower RH)

Can also help cool a warm room (though not a lot, but sometimes all you need is a little oomph! )

Is there any formulas or anything to figure out how long a 20lb Co2 tank would last in grow rooms of different sizes?

edit:

To calculate the amount of gas required to enrich your room to 1500 ppm of CO2, multiply the cubic feet by .0015. So if you have 8 foot high ceilings, you have 960 cubic feet. That would be 1.44 cubic feet of CO2 required. Now, divide 1.44 by the meters flow rate. If your flow meter is set to 50 cu.ft per hour, you will time it to open for 108 seconds, and at a flow meter of 10 cu.ft per hour, you will run it for 8.5 minutes.

HTH

Found it, hope this helps others.

Thanks everybody, educated myself a bit here. will look into all the above. and to those who tell me not to bother with c02... how the hell are people supposed to learn without asking and researching. isnt that what this forum is all about, maybe i am not very advanced at growing but who are you to tell me not to bother worrying about C02, were you born already knowing this information???
Thanks everyone for the input.

do u run air hoses all around your plants? or do u just place it somewhere high in the grow room with one small tube??
