If he just got dude an 80k a year job in roofing sight unseen , no background check and all the benefits he deserves more than a thanks. I'm not seeing it though. I live and work in Denver and the field I'm in not just everyone can walk off the street and do. 80k I don't come close to.

If the Op qualifies for a gig more than 30K he should still thank him. OP is in his early 20's, so yeah 80K is unlikely; however he stresses his proficiency so he should get better than the current 30K

I was hoping you'd catch this so i could explain further what your employer is doing to YOU .
Do you not tell your boss these roofs are being installed improperly ?
Does your boss fire every person involved with the bad work or does he ALLOW them to do more jobs ?
Ive seen this many times , its cheaper for your company to allow these crews to BLOW THE JOB OUT & have you fix the defects at $575 a week so the money making crews can get to the next job asap & blow it out , then you correct defects & again the money making crews are blowing out another house in a day , lotsa cash is flowing this way .
Do you see whats going on here ? Your being played at $575 a week fixing punch lists which allows the boss to keep the high production crews moving , your salary is figured into the cost of every project , its an age old scab trick & the company owner knows full well the crews are doing shit work .
I'd bet the farm he's not paying the Mexicans a fair wage as installers which should be $30 to $40 a square depending on how cut up & how much dead work such as valleys , dormers , soil pipes , chimneys , curbs ect , if their illegal workers i'll guarantee he's ripping them off at $15 to $20 a square .

Background check is a standard piss test , after that he can smoke daily , i quoted $80,000 as what a skilled journeyman will make in a yr , he may have to do 4 yrs trade school to reach that level of pay , its there for him & if he has any brains he'll call them & go to work with a company that has $16 million on the books , $80k is top pay & if he works as good as he says he does after he finishes school he'll make that wage in 4 yrs .
Being he's not a journeyman & will need atleast 3 yrs school his starting pay should be $20 an hour or a little more with a $1 an hour raise every 6 months till he finishes school & maxes out at journeyman pay , it really aint that hard to find a high paying gig in union construction .
Notice how i said Career vs Job , its all up to him .

"i believe the grass is blue" to you it may seem blue but to about 90% to 99.9% think its green but since you see the grass as blue you will go to your grave still thinking the grass is blue until you see enough lawns, fields and meadows to see it for what it really is

I see somebody understood wtf i meant , i allready solved 90% of his issues , he said there wanst a roofers union in CO , i hooked him up with a union in CO , he gets shit pay now & claims high skill level so theres no way its not a step up , i even gave him the company & their phone # with their superintendents name .
The $80k comes once he learns the entire trade & its a career vs the $575 a week job he has now , some guys will find an issue with free pussy
