Never said it was impossible to get good reg seeds. I said it is getting more and more difficult to get good reg seeds. And pricier. The prices on those sites are out of this world.

And how do you know any of those listed are good. Did you grow them all? Put your money down and take a shot. I have from many different sites recently and when regs were more prevalent i used to get a 95% pop rate on them. Now its more like 70% if youre lucky. And thats bullshit. That tells me old stock... or shitty genetics...

Im speaking in general terms. The fact is if you browse any site you can see how fem seeds have proliferated in recent years. Nobody can deny that. And anybody who uses reg seeds regularly still will tell you it is getting harder and harder to find good stock. There is just no denying it

Banks are keeping up with the demand for fem seeds. They wouldn't be around if nobody was buying them or if they weren't sought after. Not sure what the gripe on prices are either since fem seeds are on average almost twice as much as regs? Im just showing you that good reg seeds are not difficult to come by at all.
You just aren't trying to hear what anyone else has to say that doesn't go with your incorrect assumption on the difficulty of finding good reg seeds. I literally laid out a handfull of sites with hundreds of reg seeds offered by reputable breeders and you are still trying to convince me that reg seeds are hard to get?
No- I didnt grow them all, but know of people who I trust in their opinions of "quality genetics" that have grown many of the strains offered by those sites & breeders listed. Not to mention the countless journals found on RIU that document from start to finish exactly what they are about.

Thing is...you dont know that they are good until you try them. So forgive me if i dont take your word that those seeds are all good.

The demand for fem seeds is created by breeders who NEED you to come back again and again for seed so they can make money. If they se you a reg seeds they risk losing you as a customer because you just might make your own from his seeds. So fem seeds become more prevalent from the breeders, who then try to convince noobs of the convenience of them and the fact that they are "stable" and wont hermie, which they do frequently, as proven by nearly every hermie thread on this site.

Noobs buy into that and breeders have created "demand" for themselves. Monsanto created this business model and now own the rights to almost all of the grain supply in the world. Thats right...google it. Monsanto was recently sold to a worse company.

And! No... breeders have not kept up with demand. That is why prices keep rising. In the last two years prices have doubled and you know it, if you buy seeds...

Anyway... you can refuse to understand what i am saying if you like. I respect your grow skills, but as far as the seed market goes ... i have a lot of experience with it internationally and have formed my opinions based on that

Can you explain how, in scientific terms, a selfed (coloidial silver) seed would have more of a tendency to herm than the same plant that produced seeds by male pollination, not arguing FYI just curious. Also I read a lot of threads here about femmed seeds harming but it seems that it's just hearsay and not an actual grow out. I have not had a plant herm in many years but the ones that did also happened to the regs as well.

Ive been down this road a few times. CS applied is a stressor that incites a hormonal reaction in the plant.

It isnt new. Monsanto started this in other plants over 3 decades ago.

As we know, different types of stressors can cause more sensitive genetics to react in any number of ways. One is to hermie.

Reg seeds hermie too. Its happened to all of us im sure. But it seems that it happens FAR more frequently with fem seeds. Just about every single herm thread i have seen on this site is from a fem seed. That speaks volumes. Sure...people will argue other factors in the grow may have caused it. Maybe. And so just as likely is that those conditions may not have been enough on their own to hermie a plant but those conditions put to a fem seed did cause it...

But just by math alone fem seeds hermie more often then regs do. Evidence of that math is on this site...

So no actual scientific evidence then? I can't find any either. As for the hermie thread thing, again I see a lot of people that have never had a hermie as well. Your math statement is at the most a guess, and probably has a little bit of bias. Until you actually do a sample and statistically work it out it's just a statement nothing else. I seriously doubt the actual production of the seeds causes it to hermie more, I mean how could it? Anyways until I actually see it for myself I'll keep growing them, as well as regs. I'm on my third generation from selfed seeds and have yet to find a seed, grown indoors and out, and trust me they've been stressed in every way a plant can be stressed, root rot, light and nute burn, drought. Over a hundred plants being harvested now and not a herm in the bunch so far.

Ok, I can agree that I dont know if they are all good, and I do realize what you are saying about the popularity of fems increasing. They are all regs and very easy to obtain was the point I was making. Not just here in the states, but around the world.
There is no shortage of reg seeds by any means. The breeders aren't making me or even asking me to buy fem seeds. It is an option presented for folks like me who choose to run fem seeds and they are making it available to me. And on the hermie note -Out of the last 6 grows I've done, I've only had one run nanners on me and it was BOG's "Lifesaver" reg beans. Though it was likely the weather we had this summer, they nannered on me none the less and desreves to be noted in this discussion since I believe there to be relevance here. I've seen a few posts of people talking about their fems going hermie on here, and I've also seen post of people saying that adding Mountain Dew to their plant makes it awesome lol. You have to discern the difference between what is from a knowledgable grower...or just a grower. If you pull fire from regs, then by all means run what works for you. I just dont have the room to run regs since I have a plant count in my state and I value all the available space and plant count I have. I cant waste time, space, light, nutes on males on a regular basis. Doesn't mean I wont do a reg seed run from time to time and see what I can get from a strain that isnt offered in Fem seed though. Its just a matter of convenience and knowing my plant count will be utilized to its maximum from seed to harvest when I need it to. :peace:

I want to throw two pennies at this, ok one Pennie I've only grow regs, did so outdoors for years. When you grow in very remote locations and are not able to be there enough you will get all the damn seeds you and two hundred of your best/worst friends can grow. But inside is a little dif for me, grew one strain out doors no prolly, moved that strain indoors and pushed it to long, wham fucking nanners, tried growing those side x side with old stock and they Hermed so fast that it fucked up that whole grow.
Now a friend is getting me seeds in CO four dif strains all regs with the deal being I make more for him, so the seed packs come 12 to a pack and they're ,cheap as hell too, so I germ 6 hold 6, so for I've averaged 4 males 2 females, with this last cycle as some as I saw the seeds I though the looked immature and sure nuf poor germ rates. But what I do is move the males, collect a little pollen and dust some lower branches. But it takes 5/6 weeks or more to get mature seeds, and if I screw something up, like the timing, they aren't any good. Saying all that to say this is, it's not as easy to get quilty seeds as some might think unless u do a dedicated seed grow. Which you can still smoke it, but peeps are like hey I though u could grow this shit what happened. Lol

Proving my point that fems are for lazy noobs.

Thanks. Lol
Noobs start of small and fem seeds are awesome for those where lights and space are at a premium, as they get bigger some will turn to regs. Maybe fems do have a tendency to herm more but in the hands of a skilled grower even this is rarely seen. Dutch passion keep a back catalogue to keep those who want some purer genetics a chance to breed their own seeds and regs and surely as many land race wild strains have been wiped from the face of the earth they have done a commendable effort at preservation.
