Ants.

Hey bro's

I live in the UK and we are in the middle of a heat wave. Unfortunately this had caused an influx of ants into my property through a crack beneath my window. My plants are in another room and I haven't seen any sign of them yet but I obviously would like to avoid that. I half remember reading about a sweet substance you can buy that they take back to the colony and it wipes them out. Doe that sound familiar to any one barring that does anyone know of anything else I can do. I thinks ants are remarkable but relocating each one isnt very time efficient. Also the crack beneath the window is in my bedroom couple that with the 19c nights and let's just say I'm abit narcky. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks

Just seal the crack. Ants aren't root eating insects. When the ground gets dry the ants become more visible and active because its easier to dig through the dry soil outside. The more they dig the more space they use and the more eggs are hatched. I spray pesticides for a living so I no what I'm talking about. Use some fly traps or glue traps near the crack. Make sure tto seal the crack. Just get some ant spray for the ants to kill them. Any left straggling will stick to the traps.. just my two

Ill take that two cents thank. And I haven't seen them locate in any particular point so I dont know what they're eating. There's no tail tail trail in the honey. Thanks bro's

I couldn't figure out where these ants were coming from for ever...

Then one day I went for the bottle of Codeine that was half filled with ants. No trail, but found the honey!

Had the same problem, heat causes ants to over run my property, little trick i used, as i didnt want to kill them, yes i love ants lol... baby powder on any window sill or door opening they may enter through...they hate the feeling of baby powder on their legs, antennae etc....

Okay so if the ant are getting around your plants this isn't a bad thing, lets say they make it to the grow room and find the nice rich soil u have prepared, their going to wanna move in. The ants work with the plant because the plant is keeping the soil rich, so in an aspect they won't harm the plant but rather protect it from other bugs by well basically eating them. It's only harmful if they start producing hills on the top soil being they colonized. And u can just lace the top soil with garlic and the spicy seeds of peppers after spraying the. With ant poison and boom they will die off and your good. I grow outdoors so don't have this hill issue and I have watched the any attack a spider trying to make a nest in my plant.

if you ever see them on your weed its most likely cause you got other bugs they are eating

Very true ants don't eat plant roots, but they will crew through your roots to get to other prey, and to build there nest.
Ants will raise herds of aphids in there nests. The aphids eat roots. When you see ants bringing leaves into there nest it's to feed there Aphid herd.
Ants crawling on your plant is cool.
Ants nesting around your plant is not cool.

Nah it won't effect the plant much seeing as its all natural and made from another plant, ants don't like it because of the smell and even those who ignore the smell can't stand the taste, just not something they are into lol and like I said before with the ants, unless u hate them they will help the plants for a while
