Our culture evolved from a secret society where nuances like a GC/MS were uncommon, and quality was judged by how good a "shit" it was.
Number one Concentrate rule is that every maker considers his own stuff at least the gooood shit, but most probably the killer shit or better grade.
Number two Concentrate rule is that much process secrecy and misdirection is involved, because the artisans who have been at for very long, are by definition outlaws, with an outlaw defined as being someone operating outside the law.
Number one Outlaw rule is to stay out of trouble by keeping your mouth shut.
Number two Outlaw rule is to misdirect to stay away from trouble.
Number three Concentrate rule is that many of the ooooooold Artisans and enterprising young Artisans, would like to get paid for their labors and giving away their secrets is counter productive with regard to their mystique and demand, aka commercial interests.
Number one forum rule is that we are here to learn and share, so add students and knowledgeable sources willing to do their best at both endeavors.
Number two forum rule is that there is pathology in the populous, soooo stir in the statistically present loonies, some of which are of course also knowledgeable resources, with their egocentric needs, and that is where you now stand.
Number three forum rule, is that the fish trap exists only because of the fish. There are many ways to design an effective fish trap, and as long as it gets the same fish, design is of lesser importance than obtaining the fish.
Sooooo, that leads us to Number two forum rule, and that is that you listen to it all, use what you can, and discard the rest. It either works for you personally, or it doesn't, regardless of how golden it was for the source.
I hope that gives you insight as to why there are so many conflicting thoughts and different fish traps out there, but suggest that you use the search function and research all the different thoughts, including why the artisan considers it golden and the critique of his peers. That may sound onerous, but if you truly want to understand the available processes, that is how you do it, because once you hitch your wagon to a star, you see things only from the stars perspective.
