I<ve seen plans for building these but who wants to try to figure all that out?A cycle timer runs from 80 to 120 dollars any suggestions .I need this for my exhaust now i,m using mech timer 15 on 15 off during the 15 off i think the heat builds to much and i dont think this is often enough to exchange the air in my room. digital timers are programble down to the min but with only like 6 events per day . i tryed this and figured out i could program it 1 on 4 off but only 6 times . took that pos back to walmart.this would also cut power consumption way down right now 12 hours of run time .:joint:

+rep for suggestions

My digital timers have 15 seperate programable deals. Any way you could just run a fan control into the wiring... LEave it on all the time....

Thats not very efficient on all the time I,m going for like 1 on 4 off. You can buy a cycle timer that does this but they are around 90 dollars.

Might look into some of the light controllers for DJ's. They oftentimes have fairly programmable timer cycles, and can really be used for anything that is safe to turn on and off. Other idea would be a wavemaker/controler for aquariums, but they might switch faster than you want, I think the light controllers will be your best bet. The ones I have looked at start around $20-30, and I've seen DIY guides for changing the timing on them with cheap radioshack resistors.

Better yet, use a thermostat.

Thermostat takes to long to cycle . I have seen diagrams for building your own looks like a headache. I,ll eventually breakdown and buy the cycle timer.I was hoping to find someone who had come up with a way to use some timers in conjunction with each other somehow or something but nothing.

im not understanding why you would want to us a timer vs a thermostat or just leave it on. or just put it on a regular timer from walmart. if your looking to save money...... on eletric. thats not going to do anything the start and stop will = out to the same or ur going to save 5 cents a month. if thats the case and you have access to ur atttic or roof go to home depot and get a solar powered roof vent it will run on the sun and not during the night. also id let mine run all day they like cooler temps in the dark.

Because timers are 15 on 15 off at best .15 min in 126 cu ft pulls co2 out of the room and causes temp fluctuation . Overall even with startup and shut down so many times it will run alot less 1 on 4 min off. 15 on 15 off is 12 hrs do the math on 1on 4off and you will see I plainly stated what I was trying to achive so dont try to sell me on walmart or any other cheap mech. timers .And yes i already know the didital ones are progammable down to the minute but u can only do 12 events .
