Anybody growing Jager? It's a beast of a strain

A friend of mine trade seeds back and forth in another state and he sent me a few beans of a strain called Jager. I've never heard of it. Never seen it at a dispensary or anything. I thought why not see what happens? This is what happened with 8 weeks veg time from seed:




I have a couple questions for anybody that has experience working with the strain. What's the smoke like? Is it a strain you would keep in the garden or unload? How long did she flower for? I'm hoping it's a stellar strain because she is the most monstrous strain I've ever grown. I planted this the same time as critical mass and girl scout cookies and they're 2' shorter than jager. It looks like she's going to be a very heavy producer judging by the size of the plant and incredible branching.

I didn't even plan to place any plants in my flower room yet, because I still have to line the floor with a 12'x16' tarp tomorrow, but jager was crowding the tent too much and had to come out. I figured I better tie her down or I'm gonna be in some trouble here come flower time. She was about 4" from the light before I tied her down. God I hope she doesn't stretch much after the 12/12 flip.

I just had a plant grow x4 bigger after I switched lights. Hope you have better luck

Yeah some strains really stretch, she looks like one of those that is gonna blow up. Better get her flipped. Hope she makes the grade A dankness for ya. If she does that then you have a keeper. Hopefully she is stable after flip.

Hey Ren, you have higher expectations than I do as far as her getting more stable after flip. If that thing starts putting on any weight it's gonna be on the floor, lol.

Just kidding Ren. I'm just giving you a little shit. But I think I've earned it, lol.

Really a plant that size in a pot that small and it's going to explode after flip. Unless there is a stable trellis rig for it to stretch through it's gonna fall over.

Expect it to at least double in size but could be more like triple. So it's time to get her some sorta support thats not tied to the pot itself but the walls or floor.

The other big concern with a plant that big in a pot that small is it's gonna drink a lot during days 20 - 50 or so and you might have to water it 3 or 4 times a day.

She's almost drinking every day already. My usual routine is every other day, and she's quite parched by watering day at this point. I pour 1 gallon in and there is zero run off. Usually takes 1.5 gallons for a good watering. I'm not much looking forward to daily watering for 2 months, but what can ya do? At least it'll be a good producer. I think I'm going to lay the tarp this morning and move the rest of the plants in. Tomorrow will begin the 12/12 cycle. I can't afford to let these fuckers get any bigger

Something happened yesterday that's never happened before. I was spreading the Jager out with wax string and stakes. When I tried to insert a stake into the root ball it was like working it into cement or something. Fucker just didn't want to take the stake. I was literally pounding on the top of the stake to get it to go into the root ball. Toughest roots I've ever encountered man

As far as support goes I prefer the plant yo yo's and hooks mounted to the joists and garden stakes. I bought two 40 packs of nice garden stakes off amazon, and they do a great job of stretching out the plant and providing branch support. I've tried trellis and scrog nets before, and I hate them. I need unadulterated access to my ladies.

In my experience around day 20 of 12/12 they rapidly speed up on drink and they hold that pattern until around day 50 then they suddenly slow down on drink. Each strain varies a little but thats a pretty typical guideline on a 70 day strain. Since you are already having to water daily I suspect that you will have to water at least 2x a day during that "peak drink" period. You may wish to have some sort of automatic watering system built before that happens. you will be thankful you did.

The problem with stakes is they all use the pot for support, when the plant it too big and wide the whole thing will fall over when the soil dries. If you can fix a trellis rig to the walls it would help a lot. That plant is going to end up big like my plants do and if you can find a way to get it into a larger pot the yields will go up. When I went from 5 gallon to 10 gallon my yields went up from around 3 pounds a plant to around 4 pounds a plant.

Anyways, I hope for an epic harvest and will be watching as things progress.

I like the idea of increasing bucket size and the trellis on the walls. Watering every day really sucks. Off topic question for you renfro. I need to buy some storage containers for flower. Any recommendations? I thought about food grade 4-5 gallon buckets with lids and gaskets, but that would tie up a lot of space and I don't think I really need that much storage. I'm looking at this set here on amazon and am about to pull the trigger unless you have a better suggestion. Cheap storage containers are terrible to deal with.

The amazon containers you linked look good. I typically don't ever store large amounts of flower for any period. Into the typical turkey bags it goes lol.

Turkey bags - I literally smiled when I read that Ya know the funny thing about getting older is you generally cut through the crap and just do what works. Sometimes what is most effective is the furthest thing from your mind when trying to solve a problem. In a million years I never would have thought of turkey bags, but it's cost effective, available, and works great for the purpose it's being used for. You're the MacGyver of dope growing dude

Turkey bags do a pretty good job of keeping the odor intact and you can get a deal on amazon where they sell big packs.

I love that combo kit! I have to say those little orange fiskar's trimmers are my favorites. No resistance at all and excellent cutting. I have some dramm's also which are nice, but the fiskar's are lighter and the tips are thin with a slight curve. Great for getting into those nooks and crannies Wife loves the dramm's for some reason. They're nice but very heavy.

If I can throw one more question at you today I greatly appreciate your advice on my HVAC situation. I was planning to recycle the hot exhaust from cooling my lights into my basement living room via a louver. I started thinking though. That will essentially create a continuous loop of air pulling in from the basement intake into the flower room, running through the lights, back into the basement, then back into the intake. That's not a good thing, right? The plants essentially won't be getting fresh supplies of co2. Should I leave my exhaust as it is directing it outside rather than creating the loop?

I'm inclined to leave it as is without any further advice, because I feel like the loop will fail to provide fresh air to the basement. There won't be anything creating negative pressure to draw fresh air in without the exhaust being directed outside the home. Man I wish I had considered this before I bought all the dam parts

The problem I see with recirculation is the temperature of the intake air could climb unless offset by AC. I would suspect there is enough air exchange into your home through leaks and possibly fresh air intake on a central air system? Plus we breathe out CO2 so if you have occupants and pets usually the CO2 levels inside are higher than outside.

Im in Canada and have been looking for this strain.I wish you could send me a cut lol.
