The reality is any of these in a strips/bars type configuration or a board config will grow fantastic flowers. The way some of them obsess over having the best light or the highest efficiency reminds me of car guys bragging about their horsepower. The best of the best just seems like a waste of resources, doubling your cost for an extra few percent efficiency, but thats just my opinion, take it or leave it.
Very true - I'm about to chop a nice harvest from a mixed bunch of 4 blurples and a bar.

I recommend threads like that to newbies so hopefully they don't believe the "will flower a 4x4" marketing on some lights. (Yes, I fell for it.)
This thread gives a lot of good info about how much light is needed for a few different spaces, and it shows 2 very good methods to mimic or customize.

Set up so far:
4ftx8ftx70in tent
12 fabric pots (7 gallon)
Fox Farm soil (Happy Frog)
Fox Farm nutrients (trio, filling in with the rest of the dirty dozen soon)
Feminized seeds (White Widow, GDP, Purple Haze, Purple Kush)
Idea for lighting Mars Hydro TS3000 (2 of them)
Exhaust system no idea.

Trying to avoid any serious mistakes due to arrogance or lack of knowledge.
Again, apologies if this should be posted somewhere else or there isn't enough information here.

for a fan I would go with an "infinity cloudline" you can choose the the size that suits your needs but for that size of room I would go 6" I have seen these tested against the Vortex and have a stronger suction and can be taken apart to clean the blades
as for lighting, I would recommend "migro 240" X2 they have extensive testing and are of great quality. their systems are expandable and their customer service is top shelf. These guys actually do testing for most of the other companies out there so they have taken all the good and bad to create a great product at a really good price compared to the big guys out there.
as for a filter I seen one in the first response that is a quality product
also to add some heavy crystals at the end of grow I would add a 24" UVB florescent for every 4X4 area of your room. run them for the last 4 weeks of budding, but this is only my opinion, I am sure someone will be saying I am wrong. only been doing this for 20 years... but what do I know

Yeah vortex for sure makes good stuff, i dont have one of their inlines but i have an air circulator and its easily the best quality ive ever owned. Im just a bit more of a cheapo than that haha. 10 year warranty tho i should be buying those.

That seems kinda expensive for a carbon filter tho, i always just go cheapo on those and never had an issue, i think mines a cheap vivosun there too. The 8" ones are like $100USD on amazon.
The Phat are twice as long which means they will last at least twice as long and are far less restriction for the fan pulling air through them.

Im gonna need some proof on that test. Im pretty sure a single Vortex VTX will out power two ac infinity's. The VTX creates an insane amount of pressure.

i seen it on youtube. I did not think it would be true myself until I watched. in the past vortex was all that I ran myself. but for the cost difference thou I can get two infinity's so its about the same.

and make silly amounts of heat.
My Canagrow pulling 50 watts covering about 1 square foot puts out more heat than a 400-600 Watt Hooded HID. You guys never compute the supplemental lighting you need and added ventilation controls.

Forgot to write comment about original post. For your exhaust they are rated in CFM so figure the cubic area to exhaust and you want that done 5 times a minute I think. In my experience making sure to facilitate incoming air gives better growth.

Was it one of those vids where they connect two fans together and say this one wins because it pulled the air through?
Like a tug of war?

Yeah i dont see any VTX vs ac infinity videos anywhere on youtube. Maybe ill make one, i will have both of them in 8 inch.

Exactly like that but i cant find a video anywhere. Might have to make one.
i did see a video like that. 2 tests equal start and then vortex had a head start because it is slow to get up to speed. i am not here to BS anyone just saying what i saw. i have an infinity fan now and i have no issues with it. after you do your test please inform me of the results so i can be better informed.
update!!!!!
i found the video and it was rebel vs vortex s series. my bad. I must have been really out of it that day. I actually don't remember ordering the infinity fan but, it showed up at my house a couple days later.

I heard that it depends which one is pulling first.

Yeah the rebel dominated the vortex s series which the vortex s is basically identical to the ac infinity. The rebel is the same style as a vortex vtx. Im quite sure my vortex vtx will have my ac infinity spinning backwards the exact same way the rebel did to the vortex s.

Yea because the S series is designed for silence, not for static pressure like the vtx series. The infinity ones are similarly designed for silence not air pressure. For a silent fan they make the RPM on the fan slower so its quiet so at a given size it moves much less air. Basically its having a silent series fan is just like me buying a big heavy fan and running it at half, the sound and air movement ends up similar but you have the ability to turn it higher if you need to for humidity.

The 6 inch S series has the cfm and static pressure similar to a vortex vtx 4 inch. This is an apples to oranges test. Now if you compared the cfm and static pressure of either of those fans per DB of sound they will crush the vtx and any other fan designed for pressure. Those tests are marketing deception to try and make ppl think their fans are far superior. When you compare apples to apples they have almost identicle cfm and static pressure per decible of sound.

The actual data doesnt decieve in the way those youtube videos do, feel free to look thru the numbers.

For inline fans the difference between expensive and cheap is how loud it is and how long it will last, raw data of cfm and static pressure that is easily looked up will tell you exactly which moves more air, they are all very similar because the science of fluid dynamics for air movement doesnt change.

Both style fans are quiet at low speed. The AC infinity is just one of the few that come with speed controllers that will actually run them correctly at 10%. Most fan controllers wont let the fan run any lower than 50%. I have a 8'' ac infinity and a 8'' vivosun (vtx style) and i can tell you from first hand experience when they are both running 100%, the ac infinity is only a little bit quieter. The difference is "mix flow" vs "centrifugal" fan blades. Centrifugal fans perform MUCH better when it comes to static pressure. Static pressure is EXTREMELY important when the vast majority of us are using the fan to pull air into a tent, through a filter, and exhausting it somewhere else.

If I'm using an exhaust fan and ducting to funnel the air out of the room the tent is in the tent flaps can be opened and the intake fan is less of a requirement right?

or is there a way I could loop the exhaust back into the tent? Or does this have to be a fan taking air out, a fan bringing air in, and fans near the canopy?
