The single jacketed bulbs are meant for hoods with a protective glass.I like the single jacketed hortilux over the double jacketed that Phillips makes you get more uv which is the main thing for cmh.
coocoo what brand cmh are you using? think im gonna go with nanoluxHeres my first 315 cmh grow. This light is all i could hope for. 2 mainlined super skunk sensi. 4 week veg. Second week in flower. The one super thing about cmh for me is the tricomes. Every leaf on the plants is busting with em. I will post again in a week when the frost is comin on. That little room is a steady 78 degrees and 40 percent humidity. They get organic plancton twice a month and phd water inbetween. I finally got the watering down. Oh yea its plain old potting promix nothing else. Hmmmm... oh yea Happy New Year. Man i'm baked. Lol.
No they made for open hoods. If they’re behind said glass the uv they produce would be blocked thus defeating the purpose of them. The single jacketed bulbs are meant for hoods with a protective glass.
They definitely aren't made for open hoods, the double jacketed bulbs can be used in open hoods because in case of bulb failure the explosion is contained within the extra layer of glass. The second layer also blocks UV which Philips most likely considers harmful to humans (since it is), since the bulbs weren't originally made for growing cannabis. No they made for open hoods. Its the 3100 that came with it. Its a fusion bright. From growlights canada. From what i have seen you will ne good with the nanolux. Ushio makes a great bulb bjt for 110 bucks. I dont think my skunks care. Lol. Cheers man. I had to raise i it today. Go figure. My old led sucked. Lol. Now i got light to spare and the tricomes........ be sure to tell me how you do. Are u in for a treat.coocoo what brand cmh are you using? think im gonna go with nanolux

QB"S would be awesome in the future
keep in mind im just getting started
...yes...very much so...most cmh fixtures work well. As long as you use phillips bulbs. Im a long time cmh grower. Let me know if you have any questions. Ive grown with both 315w cmh and 630w cmhHello happy holidays everyone.
Just seeking advice on new lights.
I was just curious on your thoughts about a 315 CMH light.
I grow autos and maybe a 2 photos at a time, I grow just for a hobby.
Are these lights worth it?
TopoGrow 315W Watt CMH Grow Light Kit W/3100K Bulb 120V/240V Ballast Replace LED
Well how much watts in qb are you running vs 315w cmh. There are ballasts for cmh that are dimmable as wellI don't have a strong opinion yet, but I'm inclined to vote for QB's over CMH as well.
I have QB's on the sides and a 315 CMH on top.
The fact you can adjust the current with the QB's is huge.
