Even the old fashioned why used nutes. Pig, cow, chicken, horse manure. Compost teas. Dry mollasses. These are all nutrients.Couldnt i just grow my plants the old fashioned way, Soil + Water ?
your expectations are what matters most imo.. depending on what results you are expecting to get. if you want good quality bud and a lot of yields, there are many advisable threads on this forum that can help you step by step in doing so by using nutes. but if you are expecting a gram or two then i believe you can go simple.. might be worth getting nutes by the quarts depending on how much your'RE growing, though! i'm just a noob, throwing in my 2 cents..Couldnt i just grow my plants the old fashioned way, Soil + Water ?
That's completely up to you. If you do, you will get some success from all that I have studied. Some who mix in beneficial bacterias, earthworm castings, manure, blood/bone meals, ... before planting and just leave it at that will have better success than those who do a simple soil mixture & water only. This will ensure that you're atleast in quality soil with raw, organic slow release nutrients available to your plant. If your plant is not in fertile soil from the start, it WILL develop defecencies and effect yield/potency/flavor in your final product.Couldnt i just grow my plants the old fashioned way, Soil + Water ?

If you want to maximize your efforts and get the best yield & potency, you can help yourself in achieving this by purchasing some nutrients with ratios that are ideal for cannabis growing. These will include high Nitrogen products for your veg cycle, and high Phosphorus products during flower phase. You don't have to purchase from an expensive hydro shop if you don't want to. The same products are on eBay for much less, or you can buy cheaper garden products at your local nurseries. You'll just have to pay closer attention to their ratios as a lot of them will not be cannabis specific. Some will coincidentally be the ideal ratio by chance tho and have some good quality organics in them, so def check everything out and do your research!
Hope this helps =)
HYJACKER!!! WE HAVE A HYJACKER!!! hahaHi Maz
I was talking with a friend yesterday about getting Mono chemicals such as N P K and formulating my own mix .... you got any experience with that ?
I know i can get Mono's from hydro shops and garden centers ... But they are normaly diluted in small percentages ... I think Mono N is somehting like 17% ?... and i would asume that its diluted with water or some chamical that holds its ballance ? ..i dunno ?
you know anything about that ?
I think the OP's question has been well answered here so i dont feel to bad about a hyjack
Def use some natural sources such as that! Great options! Just to give you an idea of my premix that I toss in my holes that I dig/auger in spring, is the following:I like this answer so far
The others are spot on though .... your soil has to have some kind of nutrient going on or the plants just starve , Yopu could make up a nice natural nuterient and mix it with some nice soil in a bucket and then dig a hole or put it in a pot and just plant into it .... and then water ... but at some point your going to have to replenish that nutrient when the plant has abbsorbed it all ... or your plant will starve .
With winter comming ...Im gonna set about making up some nice organic soil for next year ... Chicken shit has plenty of N and micros that are good for plants ...so i might give that a go
Hi Noahcan anyone reccomend good cheap nutrients for my plants that i can buy in the uk
lol .. not only am i hyjacking this thread ... im advertising ... and lureing members to my forum ... omg .. wtf is wrong with me today ? ahahHYJACKER!!! WE HAVE A HYJACKER!!! haha
What up Vento?
I have not used MONO chemicals. I prefer all organics, and use very synthetic mixes. If I was going to mix my own liquid, it'd be my own liquid organics & composts to make a homemade ORGANIC TEA. I think herbal tonics like that are some of the best things you can give plants, and are extremely hard to burn with.
For the Monos, I think it'll just come down to simple math which all the nutes should provide mixing instructions for. It'll come down to breaking down your strengths and desired NPK ratios in a couple simple math formulas to develop the required ML's per L needed to develop your homemade solution. Let me know how you do with that. Can't say I've talked to anyone who's done that. And if you want to private message me all the strengths, desired NPK ratio, and any instructions included I can surely try and help you with the formulas!
Did someone say, +rep? heeemmm, hmmm.... =)
Thanks for asking the questions , We ( some of us ) are only to happy to help , I Grow for a hobby and to learn new things ... and whatever i do i try to pass that on to others .. meet and make new friends on the way and share other thoughts and learn more new stuff ... I just had a talk with the boys over on the thread complaining about people asking questions ... ON A FORUM !! ... I know ... who would ever dare ask a question ?.. ludicrusi know this sound very NOOBISH, but i have never grown with nutrients before so how do i add them - are they a substitute to water or do i need to mix them with the water - i have chosen to go for the canna coco nutrients
Sorry for the stupid question
Good soil has nutrients, otherwise the plants wouldn't growas long as the soil is good...you can grow without nutrients
Make sure to use nutrients designed for soil.Unfortunately i have allready potted the plants and are about 10 days into growing, i put them in soil i brought from the local garden centre and they look pretty healthy - i have not added any nutrients or anything they are under cfl's and i have been giving them normal tap water. they seen to be doing fine but i dont know how long that will last. my plan is to slowly introduce them to canna nutients to keep my plants strong and healthy and get a good yeild, and is this stuff what you have in mind? - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1ltr-CANNA-CO-CO-A-B-NUTRIENT-VEG-FLOWERING-/270628558499?pt=UK_HomeGarden_Garden_PlantsSeedsBulbs_JN&hash=item3f02b816a3
Thanks for the help so far man!
