i've seen lots of plants grown that have that grassy smell, and this is even after trimming fan leaves, drying, then manicuring after about a week*norcal*, but sometimes it still smells grassy, what gives a plant the good smell?

if your making an intake vent, whats the best way to make sure light doesnt get through?

I'm in my 5th week flowering and I've started to see seed pods on two of my larger Kush plants. The seeds were Barney's Farm feminised. Somehow they went Hermie. I have three other females in the space. Will the hermies affect the ladies? I only have one flowering area and the bud on the hermies looks awesome, minus the occasional seed. I would love to keep them all together. Basically looking for any knowledge on herms? Thanks in advance.

Hello good Dr.

my query today is concerning purple maxx and gravity.

i asked you once if you approved or not, and you gave it a thumbs up.

now i ask for application advice, i would like to know if reducing the suggested amount while not so much to take away from its effectiveness will helpd to reuse the medium. I have read a couple of post that its impossible to flush out.
another thing that is bugging me is if you cut these humboldt products by a third, do you want to cut the base nute by the recommended 1/3 as well

also if you would recommend an organic bloom stimulator

I'm using the full line of Fox Farms nutes with occasional mollases feedings. The Fox Farm schedule says nothing about flushing. I would like to harvest in stages if possible. Is flushing necessary with these organic products?? Thank you.

Yes you need to flush 10-14 days b4 harvest! And on your last dose add some mollasses.:bigjoint:

Hello Doc,
I want to thank you and show you my progress. First Pic is 10 days ago, when I had sickly seedlings. pH was off, they were water logged and burned due to Miracle Grow soil.

With your help, I corrected my pH problem, had a faulty meter. I also took each plant and carefully turned it over to get it out of the pot. Then crumbled the MG soil off it, then put the root ball in water + Superthrive till I could fill the pots with Fox Farm Ocean Forest FFOF and replant them.

The last 2 plants are today, 10 days later and MUCH happier. bigger every time i look at them.

Thanks doc. I lost 4 weeks, due to MG and pH, but I think now im on the right track.

And now, Doc, I have another question.

I adjust my water to 6.5. But when I add 1/2 dose of superthrive and FF Grow Big, it goes way acidic. Whats the solution to that?

i got a question for you im moving to soil i have a DWC grow going right now, one month from harvest. i also have 3 PPP females sprouted and 4 random bag seeds the bag seeds are gonna be grown 12/12 under 400watt HPS and the PPP will be vegged for no less that 1 month. All in soil, my question is how to check my PH for soil?? do i test the water before i add of do i test the run off?? probably already been asked

I replied to all this and it cut it all off :cuss: I'll make it shorter...

Orgnl- sometimes strains just don't have a lot of smell... The scent comes from essential oils found within the trichrome heads. If it's low THC it'll smell that way, and some strains just have that earthy smell like dirt.

Jm30- Yep, as Doc will agree fems suck ass, sorry bro. There's that chance of a hermie with feminized seeds.

Since it's so late in flowering seeds won't have any chance of maturing, you might want to carefully remove the sacs, if they are coming from the top new growth, you're pretty much fuct bro.

And yes, you'll want to flush the last week. I don't stop my sugar/carb feeding either like Budski...

I'll seperate it out this time...

Holmes- I used Gravity this grow for the first time, I cut back my nutes to half strength and used Gravity at half the label suggestion and noticed a slight burn on some of my plants... The shit is radioactive.

I'm not sure if I suggest using it, because like a dumbass :dunce: I used it on my entire garden instead of keeping a control group to do a comparison study.

A good additive is Big Bud from AN if you aren't already using it, comparable to Beastie Bloomz.

Got2loveit- No I'm not Howard Marks...

Tartoodle- Good to hear things are on track. Re-adjust the pH to the proper level after adding the nutes. Baking soda will work for a pH up, but pH up is cheap and much more effective.

----------

GottaGrow- If you're using a peat based mix, you can start by adding 2 tblspoons (30mL) per 5 gallons of purverized or powdered lime (not lye) to bring the pH of the peat up to the proper level. It's naturally too low. Measure with a 5gal bucket or whatever.

But yes, checking the runoff is the easiest and most accurate way of checking the pH, you can get the soil probes, they are more-or-less for emergency situations, they don't read that well but will tell you if it's way off.

You'll like soil, it's all about the subculture and keeping the soil alive.

Ha, it worked... :finger: i'm still pissed I had to do it twice. :cuss:

It's either the server is down or it's cutting me off... One thing or the other.
