ok i see why its better. ive seen ppl using apple juice and other shit in their plants with good success. i thought shit maybe sugar couldnt hurt. doesnt seem like it did. but im gonna try and get those molasses today and see if i can get em denser. talking about dense its crazy how 1 plant varies to another even from same mother. i got my younger plant is dense from top to bottom you cant see throught a single bud. the older plant seems to be fluffier, the buds on the bottom you can see light through. just a thought how seeds from the same bud can vary so much

You can find a small packet called an emergency blanket for less than $2.00 at Wal-Mart in the camping section. It unfolds into a thin large mylar blanket, and one packet should be enough to coat the walls of a small/medium grow box.

If you can't find that or another kind of mylar cheap, just get flat white paint and use that.

or use some backwards christmas wrapping paper (white side out).
works great.

Hey everyone. It's finals week and so I will be a bit scarce, but some pics will be up soon. Just not, too many. Sorry to deprive you guys. The buds are definitely getting bigger and showing signs that they aren't even close to maximum size. I still have a couple more weeks left before harvest, but I still have no trichomes... Is it still too early for them to be up?

Cannabizness, when did your trichs show up?

Well, I took my last lecture test today and next are just a couple of makeup clinicals then the final and graduation day! If it wasn't for the help of the herb I had on hand, the inspiration that came from this fantastic plant and, most importantly, all of y'alls support... I doubt I would have made it this far in either endeavor. Thank you all, so very much! I've still got a home stretch to go on both, but it won't be too long before I get the goods from both!

I found the beginnings of resinous heads on a few of my lower-light close ups. DSC00456.jpg DSC00452.jpg DSC00454.jpg The flash really brings them out. (You might have to look really close. The last one has a sugar leaf-tip on the right that has the capitate glands on the ends of stalks. The others just look like little shiny globs adhering to the leaf surface and there are tons of hairs!)

Two days ago, I opened up the box and saw that the leaves were droopy and decided to give it a good gallon of warmed-up, aged tap water with the nutes at full strength. I almost had a heart attack when all the water drained and threatened to overflow...

The change in growth rate is phenomenal! Leaves just shot out of the little urchins and they are getting bigger by the hour! Just not by much, lol! Oh yeah! Don't be alarmed at the crispety, crunchiness of those leaves. The rusting problem was a nute deficiency, apparently, and it has been fixed, but the leaves turning yellow and drying up are a different thing entirely! They are falling off to divert that energy to the reproductive parts, for those of you who are thinking of starting. The Buds for Less book talks about it and shows the leaves on the bottom turning yellow, but still, when it happens in your own grow it seems so much more barbaric and alarming.

I also readjusted the fan so that it is suspended by 4 wires above the plant. It now gives a nice breeze and keeps nearly every leaf gently wiggling in the wind. While it could be perilous if it fell, I have arranged a number of failsafes to avoid losing months of hard work.

Also, I am critically low on my stash! I have about enough for a week and a half at my current rate of use. I won't turn this update into "Last Scraps: A Regs Survival Guide" so I will just leave that issue by saying that I had foreseen and prepared myself for the last two (most likely) to three weeks (worst case) being completely dry. The bad thing is that I will be completely stressed for two weeks, but my level of tolerance will be like it was 5 months ago with a hefty measure of herb that I know will be more potent than what I am currently smoking! It's all good!

There is still enough room to adjust light height with about 6 inches to spare. I have no clue how big this could get in the last few weeks of flower though I doubt it will need the whole vertical space to finish. I will keep that in mind or the next grow. The whole plant has the 6-8 inch profile and there is still a definite bowl shape and the colas are peeking out and now I have confirmation that I will be getting at least some trichs soon.

As always, I keep the lights as close as possible and over the course of the grow, there have been a few casualties, but I will continue to keep them just as close in future grows. Maybe with better lighting arrangements I can do more with less tragedy, next time!

Good Luck on each of your grows!

Looking nice Mr. Hackelsaw. Always a joy to read. I like the Before/After shots. Cant believe youre still 100% CFL... I guess yesterday was my half-way point of my flowering. Exactly 5 weeks into flower out of 10 weeks. Crazy!

I look forward to seeing more of those buds in action, man! I also am getting to the point where I get a little impatient to see what happens next! My next big milestone is trichs... I think that many, many more are on the way!
If push comes to shove I will just have to extend my harvest by 1 week. I have no problems with going for 9 weeks instead of 8.

I have been following this Buds for Less book for my grow... I've damn near set my clock by it as far as budding, because I've never grown a flower like this before. Here lately, I have been utterly confounded that my grow seems to be, perpetually, many steps behind his. Anyhow, I was looking at it and noticed something a bit strange about some of the pistils when it talks about them being 60% red-brown. I lookd really close and I think the pic was photoshopped. This leads me to wonder if the time line in general was editted, because the flowering time is just below 40 days...
The strain used in the grow was Mango, which would have a shorter flowering time.

I am a big ass Steamroller of Awesome, barrelling onward to Victory with a capital fucking 'V'! I have successfully completed my last major roadblock to my degree and my license... Clinicals.

In addition, my plant is looking damn fine with buds that are packing on the weight without even flinching. The leaves are all back to looking like they should be. I have rechecked the growing information for this strain and have seen my scheduling error for what it was. I had mistakenly set my possible 9th week of flower for the seventh week which is the earliest harvest time. Now my 8th week is already set to the last week of this month and my perception of the rate and success of bud development are both back on track. I was high and staring at this plant this afternoon and, petting a dying fan leaf, I lovingly cooed, "Oh, baby! And I thought your pussy was broken..."

Those rusty spots are a thing of the past, as the fan leaves that had developed them, had already been scheduled to die away. With no more affected leaves showing up and the others gone, I guess I could say the lion blinked!

I am soaring right now and I have no clue which is taking me higher, the weed or the acheivements I have realized so far today and I wish everyone in the world could have their own moment just like this, at least once, before they die.

I will take a few pics and just put them at random and only introduce the Famous Two-Day Test Bud of Holy Goodness.

I have decided to take the lighting in a whole other direction. Instead of having all the lights shining down on the buds that were fortunate enough to be tall or grow first from the main stem, which sadly, I can't seem to find anymore. I hope that the leaves fall off enough before harvest for me to find it easily. I can't even find the place where the top cola used to be. For the remainder of the grow I will be more agressively emply side lighting, by using 4 of my 5 bulbs to puff up the 8 or 9 most promising colas. Do to a bit of skill, a lot of luck and a smidgeon of strategery, the size and configuration of the lights along with way Johnnie has been trained puts more buds within 2-3 inches of at least 2 square inches of a bulb surface! Hopefully this plan will work and I will have many, much fatter buds as a result of this side lighting.

I have been too busy to buy any molasses but I will have time to get some on Saturday hopefully.

Here goes:

This is the test bud which has grown considerably since two days ago. I don't know what happened with this thing... It just up and decided to kick some ass all of a sudden!

DSC00459.jpg

And here is a tide of pics of a few of them. The ones on the top have had more light and time to get big even though the lower level of buds have been holding their own and are pretty big indeed. Further, the ones on the top are the least aesthetically pleasing as the pistils have been stunted by the heat. I now follow the school of thought that states, if you never have to buy or sell your weed, aesthetics and bag appeal are pretty pointless. I will take an ugly killer bud any day! I got about 6 more bowls left in my stash till the end of December so I guess I should say I would take any bud! LOL Enjoy!

Also, I think it would be wisest of me to not scan the image as it could cause some bad blood with the author of the book, who is also an active member of the forum. Sorry...

I am now done with school and am now a nurse! The buds are looking good and they are really responding well to the side lighting and I can only imagine what these will be doing in the next three weeks. I hope my trichs show up soon.
