Auto flower Competition rules and ideas for Round 2

If you have been following the auto-flower cage fight round one or round two, then PLEASE PEOPLE POST HERE AND NOT IN THE MAIN ARENA. If you have not followed the auto-flower cage fight thread and wish to take part or to share a few ideas please feel free to post here NOT IN EITHER OF THE MAIN ARENA’S

Date for entry is a round the 10th DECEMBER

I don’t talk for the group but I feel it’s only fair we can put our points across in a more suitable area, other than the main arena!

First of all, I believe it is only polite enough to change the title to something other than cage fight in respect of Kulang who was the founder of the first round, despite the mix up we all thank him for his excellent idea, however as he is moving HIS COMP to another site because of his indifferences, as royal members to this site we feel this is unfair and so we will start another Competition, here on rollitup!!

This thread to mealy to iron out all the squeaks and get people together to avoid all the f*&k ups and problems in the first match.

Wont be round two, It will be our first round of the new Competition!

So here are my ideas

Rules I feel should be in place for round 2


  1. FEMALE Auto flowering plants only (no super autos or12/12 non autos)
  2. One plant/contestant per person
  3. Seed must be planted in pot within the set dates (72hr window)
  4. Once date has pasted no one else can join, until next round
  5. Indoor grows only!
  6. Fem seeds only! (unless you want the take a chance!)

Terms and conditions


  1. People posting off topic or their own pictures who are not in the Comp, will be reported!
  2. You may put in a few seeds to sprout, but once a seed has been planted and broken the soil, you can not change.
  3. Your plant dies or turns male your out!
  4. You must update at least once every week,
  5. Harvest pics must include your label


Judging

Everyone will vote after the last contender has finished with their harvest and update


Things to be voted for:

1: Plant’s over all health (start to finish)
2. How well the Contender has been updated

I feel yield, size etc is unfair, as there will be HPS, Hydro, Soil ETC ETC

Purple strains are NOT an automatic winner because its colour!

Would be nice if we all got a coke can to use as a size comparison for pictures!!, as a rule clearly does f*&k all but take a measurement,

Would be good if we all made clear labels for the plant (contenders name, strain and date), this will help identify and allow people to keep up to date with updates. secoundly please Rename your photos as dates of photo taken!

If we could ALL post our ides, rules, concerns etc etc would be best, feel free

And I'm not the member who wishs to take over the comp, but would like to be one of the moderators when Founder is unavailble!

Last of all I'l be putting in something for the winner, but I wont disclose any info yet!

I'd like to know what the general consensus is about the name, I couldn't give a shit, this could be called RIU's Cage Match for all I care.

Well, since you're asking,, I'm gonna make mention of some thoughts I had going into the first match.

First - This sounds like a straight growing match. Be it as it may, if that's what folks want that's fine too.

However - I'd like to see points or something awarded towards the final evaluation in respect to creativity, overcoming problems, artistics, and such.
Anyone can grow a weed with help from all sorts of places. If you play it safe, of course it'll look good.

Essentially this looks like it's geared to the plant with minimal tinkering by the grower other than light, water, nutes.
I'd like to see more (or equal) points for the person doing the grow and their creativity and individual capabilities if you know what I mean (less plant / more person)

The reason why I'm saying this is because it was also about learning (and teaching?) I think if someone tries something outside the box and does a detailed why / how come / when it should be rewarded at least for the effort. Kind of a out-do with fancy the same old, same old. Like make it more interesting / competative on a one on all comers cage kickass no holds barred brawl for the most able bodied grower trying to outdo all comers with creativity & fortitude.
Otherwise, why not just call it a "AF Grow Group?"

Sorry, communications are not my strong suit today. Hope what I'm trying to say comes through all this rubble. :sad: :leaf:

Well crap I think I'm out already. My seeds didn't come with a label. I went with super stealth. There was no label.

May be wrong, but don't think that was meant that way. Agreed, sounded like it.
Think it is meant that you make a label and label it in the beginning. So folks recognize it better?

yeah that kinda blows on the no label rule. If that is what was meant hope not lol i got some purple jems/snow ryder i wanna try

  4. Once date has pasted no one else can qualify to compete, until next round
  5. Indoor grows only with at least partial conventional lighting (HPS, CFLs, Candles, etc.). No greenhouses!
  6. Fem seeds only! (unless you want the take a chance!)
Given the way they will be judged, there is absolutely no reason a contender should be disqualified for going hermie or male. They can be equally in good health and followed up weekly. Someone is doing a AF grow and will seed should not be penalized for picking only one from a seeded grow if it meets judging criterior (IMHO). I strongly feel there is no reason to discriminate.

Terms and conditions

  4. You must update at least once every week, with one excepting 15 day grace per contestant in case of family illness, vacation, holiday trips, etc. NOTE: ONLY ONE per contestant.
  5. Harvest pics must include your original self-made identifying label. The label willbe used throughout the grow. Plan, DO NOT use toilet paper like materials! Label goes, you're out.
Judging

Everyone (define "everyone". Contestants? RIU menbers? Entire internet? Define it now to save trouble.)will vote after the last qualitying contender has finished with their harvest and update (define "finished with harvest". Cutting, trim, hung, dried, cured? nail the point. :-P)

I see that as a good issue. Some have seeds that they grew themselfs and wouldn't have a label. I think we should include them by letting them make a label. Besides, I'm not sure if I have one anymore myself. Sometimes they smudge / fade when wet. Think that's where mine is now.

My interpretation was that he received seeds he bought and since he ordered with super stealth shipping, they were unlabeled.

I think there is too much of a fuss about the name, I understand if some people want to change it but does it really matter? there are tons of people here that are already aware of round two and getting ready for it.

I don't see how the name will affect his connection, if he wanted to stay connected he could have finished the comp., and would have not acted out to get the thread closed. There is also group on here with the same name... This isn't his, he gave it up. This competition belongs to RIU and it's members, obviously... What we have is already improved competition and round two will be a lot better than this one.

Let's drop the sentimental bullshit and just keep it linear to prevent any further confusion. I personally think when we start round two (if that's what it ends up being called), round one and everything that happened will be irrelevant.

Either way, these things should still be decided by a simple vote.

edit: i didn't mean to sound harsh, but I feel that it's more pragmatic to be logical about this, as opposed to sentimental.

I didnt mean labled seeds sorry....just a lable to use with every photo, details etc. Lots of photos on last thread like my own were confusing, as some strains finnish late/early. If you have bag seed knowing it was an auto, Then sure enter it, just make sure it autos lol

Cannon Like how you altered my opening post, I hope you dont think I was taking over, as I rather be on the same fence as you smoking that RR.

But thats cool... feel free to copy and paste opening post and edited it fella's, I would like to see more loop holes were things could go wrong.

But I do believe the opening post to the comp is where things are going wrong, should we put it in a differant language and use bigger more colourful text??

It's good the competition is being run differently because now everyone has a voice, but let's try and not over do it with tons of rules and conditions... the old format is pretty decent.

I'm pretty certain according to what went wrong in the last thread we know what needs to be changed, but beyond that we have something good going, let's not get carried away.

As far as your suggestions, I generally agree with your rules, and I also feel like no one should be reported unless there are insults or name calling. We saw how much unwanted attention was received whenever people were getting reported or banned from the next round, in every other post.

I would also say a finished harvest is from cutting to curing, and description and documentation of each step. I.e., the chop and trimming, dried weight, maybe a smoke report for fun (and reference).

And as far as everyone voting, pretty simple, everyone that can vote will have their votes counted

Marcus - not at all. you just started something that needed starting. Good beginning for discussing how we'd like to see it go. I was just playing the advocate to try and side-step a moderator intervention. Hey, I like that,, moderator intervention. We don't want to need any.
I think it was great to have a rough draft to work from. Something to build on. :clap:

Definitely important this female issue, if it's one seed one person, then you are taking a chance without fem seeds, otherwise for those with fem seeds one seed one person works great.

Would it be a good idea to let anyone who doesn't have feminized seeds start two, and when they are sexed they choose ONE and only ONE (if they aren't both male). That might get tricky, but if there is no cheating I don't see any issue.
