WELL WELL WELL!

where to start this one......

OK, we got a dehumidifier, because the humidity outside was beginning to skyrocket, making the grow room (which does use some filtered outside air) humidity do the same. The dehumidifier helps keep the humidity down to 40%, which is perfect for us, and if we keep it on the lowest setting, it does it's job without influencing the temp to much.

As for the advice about dropping nighttime temps, it was welcome advice, but we had been dropping temps at night for a couple weeks already, and sure enough.... the combination of low nighttime temps, shorter days and fixing the CaMg problems worked!!

The buds have noticeably plumped up and put on serious weight since the last set of photos. also, the hairs on ALL the buds are turning lovely brown and beginning to recede on most. trichomes are almost all cloudy now, with not to many amber (1-2% as far as i can tell with the 30x scope) so we are definitely on the cusp

just a rundown:

daytime temps run between 79F and 81F

at night it drops to 67F-68F

day and nighttime humidity levels are anywhere from 38%-43%

started full flush yesterday, using a flushing agent and ph adjusted RO water

plants now range in height from 3'-4' respectively

and main colas range from 7"-11" high and from 2.5"-5" in diameter

every plant we have now has over 20 harvestable bud sites, some as many as 40!

SO..... I re-potted the larger clones and we used a topping technique we found on this site to get 3-4 main colas per plant, it worked fabulously as is evident in the photos to follow, and in anticipation of our move and flowering mommy when we do.... we started supercropping her. (bending the heck out of her intentionally, in order for all the potential cola-producing branches to get enough light and air space). That is working great too!

pics are of top colas of both strains, side buds of both strains, mommy, gen 1 clones and gen 2&3 clones :)

by the way, this upload feature scrambles the order of the photos, and i couldnt do anything about it.... sorry

enjoy, and tell us what you think

Are the lights all mounted to the ceiling? Or did you build a joist to hang them all from?
to answer your question, they are mounted directly into the ceiling. i used a cheap stud finder from walmart and ran large eye bolts into the studs, each bolt can hold me by itself (185lbs!)

Hey guys, stumbled on to this awesome grow journal!

I've always wanted to try LEDs. How much do you spend on electric a month? I can't make the landlord suspicious.
sorry it took so long to get back to you, to sufficiently light a grow room with a proper led setup, it will take almost as much energy as hid with the current tek in led fixtures.... tall the crazy claims on the internet aren't completely true..... YET!!

They are going to make it! If the trichs are at least milky that is grade A finished. I like a little amber in mine, but I could live with cloudy for sure and the taste will be a finished taste too.

Okay so we spent the last two days trimming off all the large fan leaves from the plants. It took us a total of 26 man hours to do this. We changed our minds and decided that we wont be harvesting the top colas separate from the lower buds. We are going to harvest all at once and that day will be Sunday May 9th!

Before we removed all the foliage the plants looked so much larger than they actually were. Once we removed the bulk of the material we realized that they could have used twice the space they ended up with. The two plants that had a lot more space than the others are twice as heavy. So above anything else we have learned that plants this size need a lot of space and light to reach their fullest potential. Don't get us wrong, were not bummed out, this harvest will still probably be over 2 pounds, but if we had the same plants spread out over 100 sq feet we could have gotten 5 pounds.

Here are some pics before and after the last two days, we chop them tomorrow!

Wet weight report will be included in tomorrow's update.

Also, we wanted all of you to know, we ended up with ten pounds 7 ounces of rough trim (big fan leaves, etc) and 2 pounds 3 ounces of good trim (small leaves with trichs present) and we expect another roughly 2 pounds of really high quality trim once we harvest and do the final trim.

this is wet weight of course, we have it all in the freezer and bonnie will start making some bubble hash monday or tuesday (pics of that process and more precise weights of trim will be given after she is done)

but i thought you all might like some pics of the frozen trim, so here ya go

the trash bag has the 10 pounds of not good trim
the two totes have a little over a pound (wet) a piece of pretty good trim

enjoy:shock:

oh and just so everyone knows, the reason we decided to trim and harvest this way, was because we knew that they weren't going to pack on any more noticeable weight in the last couple days, and we knew that the popcorn and smallish buds towards the bottom still needed to ripen up. we decided that it would be a hell of a lot easier to trim if we did it this way, and the lower buds would get a couple more days of sun (it might help a little!) before we chopped.
anyway that was our thought process behind changing our minds....

Looks like LEDs are doing very well for you, when harvest comes you will have the tastiest longest high grade weed in town! here is something very interesting i notice about LED buds, it appears fluffy as hell when they are drying but when they are dry they are dense and hard as a rock and break up just like any HPS bud.
