jews have lived in that land for THOUSANDS of years through oppression ,through pogrom and through dhimmi status in their own homes, the other side are arabs from all over the moslem world who simply CLAIM they lived there, when in fact they did not.

the few actual arab residents of israel at that time were Feyadeen peasants, tenant herders and farmers who DID NOT OWN THE LAND they lived on, and there were damned few of them as well. the entire levant was pretty much an empty wasteland which is why the ottoman empire gave it up so readily as a concession at the end of ww1.
when the british mandate declared that the levant was going to become a jewish homeland, the actual owners of privately owned property (which was a small % of the area) sold it, and when a property gets sold, tenants have no right to continue occupancy. the larger potion of the levant was "State Property" wholly owned by the Ottomans, and when they gave it to the brits it became property of the British Crown, until the Brits in fact gave some of it and sold the remainder to the jewish zionist organization. the entirtety of Ottoman State porperty (later British Crown property) and nearly 100% of the privately owned land in israel became the property of the jewish zionist organization, several smaller groups of jews as well as some private jewish owners.
when israel declared itself a state, after the arab attempts to seize and annex the jews' duly and properly owned land, israel became a sovereign state.
the territory which is actually israel (not the occupied territories) is not "apartheid, it is not a racist state, and arab moslem citizens make up 20% of the population. they get to vote, they have members in the knesset, supreme court judges, heads of the IDF and national police force, etc etc etc.
meanwhile the "palestinian authroity" is still run by Fatah and Hamas, terrorist organizations which remain dedicated to the elimination of israel, while israel has bent over backwards to create a pallie state, but the pallies have repeatedly refused unless their state includes israel.
